We have a Dutch friend visiting for a few days … she drove up from the Hull ferry yesterday and couldn’t believe how dry everything looked …
Hartford station in rural Cheshire - an empty timber train, I assume having been to Kronsopan at Chirk 🌲
Big challenge with important studies such as this, is to have meaningful engagement with forest product industries - construction, packaging, paper etc - who will need a reliable supply of raw materials from our climate resilient forests in the future
Good luck to everyone traveling to Builth today and setting up stands, stalls and caravans at the Royal Welsh Show. Sadly not attending this year and slightly regretting my decision !
Hi @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social I fear that 2 of the Wheatley Elms on Bellevue Place are showing classic symptoms of Dutch Elm Disease @ntbcc.bsky.social 🌳☹️
Finn-joists - I beams made from Finnish 🌲timber and OSB being used on the old bowling green site at Powderhall, Edinburgh - more info on the product via TDUK timberdevelopment.uk/member-produ...
We need to be planning now for the climate of 2050 and beyond. Hard to understand why there’s no consideration of additional shade or surface temperatures in the redesigned Edinburgh’s George Street. @ntbcc.bsky.social @spurtle.bsky.social @stephenjenkinson.bsky.social @edinreporter.bsky.social
Soft summer rain In Edinburgh - a huge contrast to the extreme heat in London this week
Reviving Scottish Bumble Bees with some Welsh honey. 🏴🐝❤️🏴 🍯 The bees visit the flowers in our window box, and then sometimes get stuck inside in the kitchen.
There are world leading international timber strength experts at @edinburghnapier.bsky.social would be good to get their opinion. Cracks in hardwood timber beams is fairly common - this is a 600 yrs old Oak beam still holding up a large house
Heading home to Scotland from a busy London Climate Action Week. A climate refugee in search of more livable temperatures …
Jon Batiste at KOKO in Camden last night - first of a 4 night residency (4 different concerts). We were in the gods and it was v hot and completely tremendous ❤️
My main take away from London climate action week is that the website is largely unusual and, other than the events I’ve already booked, it’s v difficult to see what else is occurring …
Heading south for London Climate Action Week. I hope the high temperatures will focus everyone on the Action required. #LCAW2026
Really great to see a busy shop in Rhuthun, which is bringing in people to spend time and money in the town - well done to Lavinia Stamps for the confidence and the investment 👏🏽
Also visited the much renovated Plas Coch in Rhuthun, proudly displaying it timber and wattle and daub construction. Amazing to think that about the person who harvested this Hazel with a billhook, or sawed the Oak. One of the beams also has Witches marks. www.laviniastamps.com/dreamatorium...
Great visit to Nantclwyd y Dre in Rhuthun - a timber frame house which has been storing carbon for over 600 yrs. 🌳🏠🏴 Last visited when I was 10 doing deliveries from our shop with my Mum, to the then owner Mrs Gough www.denbighshire.gov.uk/en/leisure-a...
Heading south on the west coast main line 🚆 A damp James Jones at Steven’s Croft looking fairly busy 🏴🌲🪚
We are very lucky to have a small balcony over looking the Water of Leith in Edinburgh, and to be able to hear this much bird song in the mornings. Using the Merlin bird app 🦻 🐦 @wolct.bsky.social
"From now through to 2050, domestic timber and fibre production as a share of timber and fibre consumed should be sustainably maintained at 60% at least." In reality it is circa 20%, and set to fall even further in the long term. @thecccuk.bsky.social www.theccc.org.uk/publication/...

Happy May Day 1st of April still felt like winter in Edinburgh, 1st of May feels like high summer already 🌞
Hi @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social there’s “footpath closed” signs near Canonmills Tesco. There is a diversion for walkers but not cyclists. As far as I can see there’s no closed paths or imminent works. What is going on ? AFAIK there’s been no prior notification @jackrmcaldwell.bsky.social
