I started playing DISCO ELYSIUM in january 2020. Stopped playing (might have been something going on then, dunno) when I was 2/3rds through. I feared I'd never resume the game, but last week I finally put on the superdetective green shoes again... What a joy.
Seen today in a toilet at the long distance bus station in Madrid. The conspiracy lives on... #w.a.s.t.e

He had a long life and an amazing career, but it still feels like Robert Duvall left us too soon. Way too soon.
I had never realized until now that when Galactus first arrived The Beatles' Revolver was playing on the radio. In my mind they still seem like cultural products from different timelines...
Memory is tricky, huh? I was thinking of the ending of City Lights, how a good part of its power is that we see the Little Tramp cry for the first time in his career. But does he really cry? I looked up a gif, and his eyes shine, but I'm not sure he sheds tears. Maybe it's just Kuleshov again.
Someone got rid of their SF collection, which means that lots of classics of the genre and back issues of the F&SF magazine washed up at the second hand bookstores here in Bilbao... This was a particularly strong issue. Highlights were a take on animals evolved into anthropomorphic beasts à la 1/-
Currently reading Nnedi Okorafor's Lagoon. Even 11 years after it was published it is so refreshing to find aliens arriving in Nigeria instead of central Kansas....
Autocorrector en WhatsApp cambia Mikel Laboa por Mikel Labial, y ahora tengo metido en la cabeza a Mikel Laboa poniendo morritos...
Anybody says out loud film/song quotes for recurring everyday situations even when there's no one around, or is it just freak me? 1/ Whenever I'm doing something tiresome but absolutely necessary: "This is the JOB, deTECtive!"
Watching Masters of the Air. Imagining Elvis just made a show with Hanks and Spielberg...
FOR ALL MANKIND 's Leningrad episode broke my heart with the much awaited encounter between my two favourite characters of the show... 😥 Only five more episodes to go! It's such a relief to know there's another season on the way... #forallmankindtvshow
This was a great read. Lewis makes believable the quick collapse of American democracy under the attack of populism allied with big capital, using the Presidency as the Trojan Horse that allows them to destroy civil liberties from within the system. Only missed the prediction by less than 100 years.
Listening to Springsteen's Nebraska for the zillionth time. I'll watch the movie, but it bugs me the grandiloquence of the narrator claiming "he was about to repair... THE WORLD". With Born in the USA? During Reagan's? "We're gonna need a bigger wrench..."
Shiiit, these two are Charlie Hunnam and John Carradine, time travellers.
Happy Bloomsday, everybody! Any day is a good day to read Ulysses, but if you start today you'll earn a special achievement badge, courtesy of good ol' Buck Mulligan...
The trouble with reading books as you come across them in second-hand bookshops is that sometimes you screw up the gateway to an author... Case in point: Brian Aldiss' The Eighty-Minute Hour. Which title of his do you think I should have tried first?
