lucy also attended law journal meetings in retrospect this probably wasn’t permissible but it was during the pandemic and everyone seemed very happy to have a beagle around
this will be a major problem for my productivity given that lucy is in a perpetual state of either being asleep on me or just being extra cute

sorry, but no. the disciplinary code remains in force. see articles 1 and 7 of the 2026 world cup regs. even belgium does not seem to contest this. its statement yesterday cited provisions from both the disciplinary code and the world cup regs in support of its claim that 27 is inapplicable.
No, i’m not wrong. Other FIFA regulations and statutes, including the Disciplinary Code, remain in force during the World Cup. The below excerpts acknowledging that are directly from the 2026 World Cup regs. You have to read the code and the regs together, as both are controlling.
i just don’t see how “automatic” could possibly be so capacious as to mean “unreviewable.” i’ve never heard it used that way, and it doesn’t comport w/ how that word is used elsewhere in the code. and if finality was so important, why not include red card suspensions under the prohibition in 27.4?
well i think we know it’s a disciplinary measure because suspension for a specific number of matches is listed as a disciplinary measure in the rules
Okay and here is Article 10.5 of the WC Regs. It says that a red card is “automatically” accompanied by a one-game suspension. Belgium cited this in yesterday's statement, arguing FIFA's decision on Balogun under Art. 27 is in "direct contradiction" with Art. 10.5. bsky.app/profile/anna...
here's the relevant “lol we can do whatever we want” clause as you can see, it's broadly applicable. sub-section 4 only excludes one category of disciplinary measures—those stemming from match manipulation—from its scope. that's not relevant to the Balogun case
