Yesterday, between the rain drops, I wandered around the mud-soggy garden, squelching between the flower beds and sighed at the work left to do to create some sort of beauty in a rain-wracked space. But then I saw something that gave me some hope. 1planet.substack.com/p/go-wild-wi...

If we only invested more in nature, we would be healthier and happier. Who doesn't feel their spirits lift when hearing bird song on a spring day? Who doesn't love the splash of a water-vole or seeing the flash of orange and blue of a kingfisher flying by? Nature doesn't have a voice but we do. 💚💚💚
Did you know that long tailed tits need up to 2,000 feathers to line their nests? That's a tough ask but they will plunder a corpse to get the feathers they need. A dead pigeon would provide them with a lot of feathers for example. A great example of recycling.
If there was a GE called tomorrow, which party would you vote for and why?
We must not forget what happened to Renee Nicole Good. A terrible tragedy..a killing in cold blood.
Here's an interesting nature fact. A flamboyance of flamingoes - both beautiful and mesmerising when you see them. But did you know that the gorgeous pink colour isn't only the feathers? Carotenoid pigments within its diet also impregnate the bird's skin, blood, tissues and egg yolk. 💚
Critically endangered, you still wouldn't want to mess with a black rhino.
Male blackbirds had a special name.....colly birds. Colly means sooty or coal-covered.
I have long fought for nature protections but now am channeling my intent through One Planet News, and Go Wild With Annette. One of my aims is to bring the wonders of British wildlife to everyone because each species is fascinating. We often think our wildlife is drab, but it is fascinating.
