Merry being a dapper little gentleman

Merry, a seal point cat, standing so you can see two skinny shaved sections on his forelegs. With fluffy taupe fur above and fluffy brown fun on his front feet it looks like he is wearing dark brown ankle boots. Also his left cheek is drenched bc his kidney disease makes him perpetually thirsty and his dumbassery makes him a very incompetent drinker.

More #garmentsewing, with a hat tip to my amazing tatreez instructor Sara who sold me supplies & taught me the skills to make the yoke (on aida cloth). This was self drafted and used up the remnants from my spouse’s dressing gown, a beautiful thick nubbly cotton.

Who has zero thumbs and is so high on life that the vet tech assumed it must be gabapentin? THIS GUY 😻

A crosswalk on a sunny day, with a telescoping wagon on the sidewalk. In the wagon is a backpack. From a zipper gap at the top of the backpack is a cat’s head emerging. He looks a bit stoned, but that was just an unflattering pic; he was very alert to get the fuck out of there while the pic was being taken (on the way home from a urine sample collection at the vet).

1. Made a dress from a Japanese pattern book and def did not find it as “simple” as advertised. I’m sure it’s partly that I’m used to Occidental ways of writing a pattern but I found the directions very confusing and kind of bad. #garmentsewing

Anno, a smallish white person with a pink pixie cut, from the side in a belted blue striped knee length dress with square neckline, full skirt, patch pocket at the thigh on the side. There is a small bust dart and the wide shoulder strap has been cut such that it leaves a giant gap at the back.

New quilt finished. I made up this pattern, as far as I know, and it is executed quite badly (puckering and gaping) but quilting hides a multitude of sins!

Quilt hanging from a balcony railing in the morning sunshine. 36 white irregular 4 pointed stars sit in a grid that is set slightly off from true by diagonal squares and parallelogram periwinkle strips between them. The border is a thick brown stripe, skinny white stripe, thick navy and skinny periwinkle binding. Colours are lots of deep browns and blues but it looks chipper with the white and periwinkle. The border is quilted with interlocking circle shapes.

Finished my tatreez class project (led by Tatreez Elblad, if interested, Ottawa!) Don’t tell me if my plautdietsch is wrong; I don’t want to know. Reference to Micah 4:4: ‘but they shall all sit under their own vines and under their own fig trees, and no one shall make them afraid’

Picked up a pro tailoring tip from @elfkin.bsky.social: using grosgrain ribbon to stabilize the waistband without adding too much bulk (the pattern calls for interfacing but I didn’t want to buy any)

Raw edge waistband lying across my knees to show that I am hand sewing a cotton ribbon into it on the floral lining side.

I love this floral fabric I bought last year to make a shirt and it matches nicely as a sprightly lining fabric. I also have more boring matching lining fabric. Lighter lining was essential to de-bulkify the corduroy.
