Award-losing national bestselling Métis author of "Indigenous Writes: A Guide to First Nations, Métis & Inuit in Canada", from manitow-sâkahikan/Lac Ste. Anne in so-called Canada. Trying to debunk myths. She/her/wiya
Well...shall be available? Dunno. It's official anywhere. Btw this cover is a piece by Anishinaabe artist Nadia Myre. Also, saying "Bison Bison Buffalo" in French is super cute and I love it.
I actually forgot I had this "trans-made anthology of Fast & Furious content" and life is good again.
This is a must-read for anyone in academia. While it focuses on administrative positions in certain parts, it's such an excellent resource with stats and critiques of all the indigenization/reconciliation rhetoric that it's got something for everyone. Highly recommend.
After an incredible 8 years of service, my Mr. Coffee mug warmer has reached the end of this long road we travelled together. She (yes, she is a Mister) saw me through grad school, through the gestation of child number 6, and an Associate Lecturership. www.amazon.ca/hz/wishlist/...
Fuuuuuuuuckkkkk yoouuuuuuuuuu. Literally lost us this riding because you suck so hard.
Today I picked this book up, and I'm super pumped to read it. I honestly LOOOOVE work that focus on various dystopian scenarios and imagines life beyond - especially when the authors acknowledge previous apocalypses. I'm not sure how much Indigenous stuff is in here if at all yet, but I've got lots.
Jeez, they are almost getting to the point. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Remember when the SPVM in Montreal couldn't strike (because cops aren't workers) and wore bright camo pants for 3 years in place of a uniform - and a guy called one a fucking clown and got charged. The judge was like "you look like a fucking clown, it's not a crime to say so."
Don't want to dunk on this person particularly but the way settler cultures who have historic beef over the right to colonize lands and peoples, will always side with one another during times of stress rather than ever acknowledge, identify with, or learn about Indigenous Peoples.
So um yeah. Remember when MAGA invented "Trump Derangement Syndrome" to refer to folks who spoke out against Trump? Republicans just introduced a bill in the Minnesota Legislature to add this "syndrome" to the definition of mental illness. www.revisor.mn.gov/bills/bill.p...
This person makes little to no effort to accommodate low to no vision folks with alt text but got a little thrill by "calling out" someone asking for alt text. Can't stand these fakes who pretend they care about an issue just to play "gotcha".
I wonder if I can bank with VanCity and not have it be a big hassle if I'm in Alberta. No other banks or credit unions seem to want to be transparent about their investments.
Where it started. He flat out explains that Democrats don't support trans folks, and you'd better accept that or else you just want Republicans to stay in power. These people are never real allies, they just play them on tv.
You have a basic description in your post but no alt text that helps describe what the image is showing. For example: A small white bird with pale blue markings around its head is perched on a slender branch dotted with budding leaves, against a green background. Or less fancy even.
I appreciate the spice boxes soooooo much. We use a lot of spices in this family, we have two cabinets full of stuff and do a lot of mixing ourselves but these are next level and make things so much faster to prepare.
It's amazing to watch people calling Eve Tuck a Zionist for a statement she made condemning Hamas in 2023 at a time when you wouldn't even be able to get a word in edgewise in support of Palestine if you didn't first say, yeah violence is bad, including that.
This is the same sort of smug attitude that's gotten us to this point. Nothing is guaranteed or protected. It has to be fought for every generation. The Charter doesn't mean shit if the gov't decides it has a mandate to do whatever it wants. Appalling lack of sense here.
Don't give these kinds of trolls any oxygen. This person is getting dozens of responses as they defend David Frum, instead of the block they deserve.
In addition to this, the claim is that we want to destroy industrialized society and cause mass death.
Ah. Now I get it. They either (or both, it can also be both) believe that we are too primitive and undeveloped to "do better" than current systems, or (and?) they've bought into the notion that colonialism completely undermined our capacity to do so.
I'm embarrassed I haven't gotten a frame for it yet but this print consistently lifts my mood especially in the worst parts of our winter.
Saw someone was talking shit about @jamellebouie.net and was happy to see that sometimes block lists really can predict stuff worth not giving oxygen.
As always, masked the frick up in public, because I'm not trying to get my neighbours sick, or end up even more disabled myself.
Lol, fuck off, TikTok. And don't @ me. Actual leftists (socialists, communists, etc) didn't win the election for Trump by voting (or not) for 3rd party candidates.
Here's a helpful slide I use when I talk about this with folks.
Having a book club, even a virtual one (which can address accessibility and keep ppl safer from things like COVID etc) is a real, tangible thing folks can do. I'm talking about learning, not just being entertained. I'd highly recommend starting with Let This Radicalize You.
