Every once in a while, when I least expect it, @animalshapes.bsky.social likes to remind me that the Tongue-Eating Louse exists.
Finished up my last-minute costume for FurEh's Lord of the Wings theme this year. Thanks @sixel.bsky.social and @animalshapes.bsky.social for the idea!
Digging through an old sketchbook and what do I find but old Apoxon X Logan art (circa 2013/14? Lol)
The off-leash dogs at our local parks are getting out of hand. This guy's owner was NOWHERE to be seen, and he wasn't even wearing a collar. Unbelievable.
Ah, I see we're BOTH desperate to go hiking again. (Sorry, dude; it's killing me, too. Just a couple more weeks and we can hit the trails again.)
I can't take him on hikes yet (I'm feeling normal now, but I'm not cleared for hikes for another two weeks at least 🫠) but we can walk around the yard and that's not nothing, at least.
Finally sat down to work on a personal (fusion!) project I've been chewing on since December. Very excited to try this out!
55.) Book of Cats A collection of Le Guin's poetry, sketches, and imagined conversations centered around her various cats. Equal parts heartwarming and heartbreaking (all things must end, and it's a harder read with a senior cat warming one's lap). 🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛.5
54.) Burn Set in the PNE, in an alternate timeline. A girl's father hires a dragon to do farm work. Religious zealotry, government agencies, and prophecy abound. There's also some world-hopping. Engaging, fast paced, and an unsatisfying (but reasonable) ending. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Alright I gave it another week before going on an extended walk again. Pros: feeling fine, wasn't and am not overtired or sore Cons: it's raining today, it doesn't matter how fine I feel because I'm not cleared for hikes for another two weeks at least :<
Who makes the worst patients? The impatient. (Me. I am the impatient.) I overdid it yesterday (I felt fine in the moment), and have paid for it today with weakness and the cold sweat shakes with any sort of vertical activity. So that's a lesson learned 🫠
51.) War of the Werelords (book 6) Horrendous cover art aside, this should be a great series but the writing is just so unforgivable bland that nearly every chapter was a slog. I actively put off reading because this was on my pile, and I'm relieved that it's over. 🐺🦁🐯
As of I'm gonna *sit still* lmao (The doctor said I should be going for walks!)
Sadie's still on her slow decline, and the three weeks of us being away, and her not being allowed to sleep with me haven't helped (she gets depressed and loses her appetite, and just sorta gives up???). But she seems to be rallying now that her banishment is over, so here's hoping!
Shoutout to this stellar killdeer mother who decided a high-traffic walkway was the perfect nest site, and the perfect place to stage her "oh my god I broke my wing oh no come follow meeee" act, for the next month. (Her poor nerves.)
"I didn't kick it I gently nudged it back into the sea I didn't kick it, It had all the right number of legs when I left it, yeah!"
