“My, if you wanted us to go on a drive around today, you simply could have asked!” Alastor twirled his cane as he sauntered towards the car, slipping into the passenger seat swiftly. Besides, if things ever went awry, he could always just teleport away from the scene.

After Husker slammed the door shut, which he did so with a bit of a temper, Niffty climbed into the backseat through an open window. She propped her head over Alastor’s carseat, the chamber of her gun rattling in her hands. “Good morning, Alastor!”

“Why, good morning, Niffty!” he greeted as he would on any other morning. “I see you’ve gotten yourself a new weapon.”

“Hehe, yeah! Husk has been teaching me how to use it. He said I should learn to be a good shot for today!”

“Oh!” Alastor blinked. “That’s nice!”

Husker got into the driver’s seat, tucking in both wings and tail. “Niff, buckle up. You too, Alastor.” He still held onto the angelic revolver in his right hand, even after he turned on the ignition and started to head down towards the hotel’s gate. It stayed pointed at Alastor’s face, a claw hovering over the trigger.

As they made their way down to the streets, Alastor wondered if he was being kidnapped right now. There was certainly a first time for everything!

“But the boss needs us!” That was her job! To keep him out of trouble!

“The boss doesn’t want us!”

There was something so devastating in his voice when he said it.

And just like that, she stopped. It was as if something else left her tiny body just then. Her feet stopped moving, and the aftereffects of electrical charge had completely evaporated.

Before Husk could set her down, Niffty slid out of his hold like a snake, then crawled up his arms until she was pressing her face against his.

“So that means we have to take Alastor back by force!” She grinned. “I like it!”

Husk’s eyes were so mesmerizing in their glow. She felt the very fluttery touch of his eyebrows furrow over her skin. “...Is this you just completely ignoring me or like, some kind of fucked up trauma response?”

She wasn’t listening, already climbing further up his body to grab his hat. “Use your kitty powers and make Alastor appear! Hurry! Do it! Do it!”

“Yeah, this seems like both.”

“We are gonna have a fucking talk, boss,” Husk said. Bright yellow eyes turned to Alastor. He tightened his grip on his gun. “About all of us.”

Niffty waved her own gun around, still so happy to be here. “It’s a family meeting!”

The static died out immediately. Mischievous shadows retreated, letting in the bright red from both the sky and the dozens of neon lights surrounding them—as well as the fire from the nearby explosion.

Alastor shuddered, hunching away as much as he could. "Just shoot me.”

Or, a story of how each member of the Radio Trio deal with their own complicated feelings about their friendship with each other—except Alastor who'd rather lock up his feelings and throw away the key. And yes, they will get guns.

“Ugh, did I just read him wrong? The hell was that all about…?” The shaking had finally stopped, leaving him exhausted and hollow. “Good talk, my ass.”

“The boss got really mad at you, huh?”

At another time, Husk might have jumped in shock, especially with how close Niffty was. She leaned her head over his left shoulder, her height finally matching his, a big sharp-toothed smile on her face. But with Alastor’s little scarefest from before, he only had enough energy to mildly flinch.

“Niff, how long you’ve been hiding around here?” He eyed the walls, trying to find a vent he must have missed. Sometimes the little bug maid would disappear for half the day crawling through them.

“Not long!” Niffty skittered around to face him, holding onto a small feather duster. It was dusty—as was the rest of her. The vent theory was looking to be true. “Just when you asked Alastor for a talk.”

“...So, you’ve been listening the whole time.”

“Yeah! But it wasn’t very long.”

"Is that the boss' old radio?" he asks one night, watching Niffty polish its dials furiously. She had set it on the bar counter, getting dust and oil all over.

"Yeah! Sir always wants to make sure it shines!" She grins wildly. "It gets so dusty."

Alastor has been gone for a year, yet Niffty is still here. She waits like an eager puppy, prepares everything just in case their boss breaks down the door and demands a hug immediately. Because it's something the bastard would do, of course, and it was also like the bastard to play on a joke for way too long, like he expects his little darlings to be right where he last left them.

Husk glances down. He sees his own hands polish a shot glass, and frowns.

She failed to notice a certain sopping wet bartender standing behind the bar counter, who was now doused in lukewarm apple juice. “Come the fuck on.”

Or, just as the title says, Niffty quits the hotel! She can do that?

“I quit!” Niffty said again, shouting louder for all the guests to hear—at least the ones who were interested enough to listen. Most were still busy watching TV or were passed out on the floor. “Alastor and Husk both got to quit their jobs, so now I will! I don’t want to be left out! So here is my two weeks’ notice!”

“Is that seriously why?” Vaggi looked back to the note with its pinkish hue. “Also, Niffty, this…isn’t a two weeks notice. This is a pink slip. That’s only for when you’re fired.”

“Oh.” Niffty blinked owlishly before laughing ecstatically. “So I’m fired! I get to leave right now!”

“What? That’s not what I—?”

“Did you hear that, sir? I’m fired!”

Niffty could have turned in any direction, and her favorite boss would have appeared wherever her gaze landed. This time, it happened to be straight at Husk who was busy wiping his damp face with a bar rag. Alastor appeared from the shadows, making Husk jolt with fright.

“Can all of you people stop?!”

“That’s wonderful, Niffty!” Alastor made extra sure to ignore Husk’s complaints, moving through shadows again to appear right next to the girl. He then gave her a gentle pat on the head, which she leaned into like a happy kitten. “I always knew you could do it. Good job!”

Summary:
Husk has been slacking at his bartending duties lately, and Alastor soon learns why. The lousy drunk has been wasting his time writing love poetry! Badly!

So, Alastor takes out the red pen and makes sure to give Husk some very important feedback.

After a half a minute of skimming, Alastor already had some critiques. And that was putting it politely.

For one, this would hardly be called a proper shopping list! He would give points to Husker for having written it plainly in blocky letters, especially for one with such failing eyes as the drunken kitty. The ‘RESTOCK LIST’ was clear and to the point. Underneath that title was the assorted list, with some proper checkboxes for approval. Scotch? Yes, they did need that. More scotch? Now Husker was just being repetitive. Vodka? Husker knew he was banned from such a drink after the last incident.

It was truly a very lacking list—only saved slightly by the addition of the last item, which made Alastor raise a curious eyebrow.

‘Cocktail Cherries (Niff likes ‘em).’

Ah, did she? Niffty liked many things, but he was pleased that Husker made a note of such a preference, even if all of his other talents waned.

Still, I mustn't be lenient! This needs to be a much better list! And that wasn’t even getting into the rest of what the paper was scribbled over with.

Alastor, Husk, and Niffty all joined the Hazbin Hotel together, but that is seemingly where their connections to each other end... Until Husk looks for a missing wine bottle that is precious to him besides the alcohol content, and Niffty frantically searches for a handmade scarf that itches just right, and Alastor notices the few gifts he's ever received in the hands of someone else.

Sometimes, the Radio Trio can be sentimental about each other.

He paused, eyes now fixated on Angel who was holding his missing alcohol bottle with the gold foil winking in the light. The spider celebrity narrowed his eyes at the fancy script lettering over the label, then seated himself at the bar counter. He held the bottle daintily in his bottom right hand. “Since when did you stock this type of fancy stuff anyway? Can't even pronounce half these words.”

Before Angel could take a swig, Husk swiped it from his hand. His wings rustled with anger. “The fuck is wrong with you?! Don’t just take shit from my bar!”

Angel blinked all eight of his eyes in confusion. “Huh? This is free hotel stock! And you always tell me to take whatever because you don't feel like bartending anyway!”

Husk growled. Fuck. He did say that. “This one's off limits. I don't want you wasting it, got it?”

Angel’s small, pouty frown almost made Husk feel bad. “Fine, fine… What's so special about that one anyway?”

Husk checked the bottle, examining the still closed cap. Didn't seem like anyone had a chance to drink it just yet, which relieved him. “Nothing. I just like it, that's all.”

“Oh, come off it. No way you got this wine on your own! Gift from an ex or something?”

Husk placed the bottle back on the top shelf, taking another long look. “Alastor gave it to me.”

“...Smiles is your ex?!”

And yet, before he could ask Alastor what was the hold up, he did feel something then. Not on his body, not even on the table near him, but—it was there. A shift in the air. A change in temperature. A sudden drop in the pit of his stomach.

It felt like, at that moment, he was about to die.

The sensation was sudden and paralyzing. Husk couldn’t even think to move. Just the very feeling that there was something menacing above him, with horrible intent. Like eyes that trailed him through the woods and chased him down and down until there was nowhere left to run.

Like he’d soon be gutted open and left with nothing. That something nameless was growing larger with impossibly-made limbs, with rows of bloody teeth, with hunger that couldn’t be sated. And there was such awful fury simmering beneath that any direct look would have scalded one’s eyes to blindness.

It was close, and it would tear out his throat before tearing his very soul next.

And soon, whatever darkness that looked over him had always been there and had just been waiting and waiting—

He couldn’t resist it. He opened his eyes.

There was just Alastor over him, with that same smile—no, slightly different now. A bit of teeth shone through, betraying their hint of sharpness.

“...Al?” Husk asked, surprised to find his voice shaking. He tried clearing his throat, but the tremor stayed. “What are you doing?”

“Hm?” Alastor tilted his head. One ear flicked, making the light above them shutter. “I’m simply admiring the sight before me.”

And just like that, the fear, the flighty feeling inside him, and the dread, evaporated. No, just too much to drink. Or maybe not enough.

He groaned in annoyance. “Do I have to spell it out that I want you to fuck me? I’d rather not keep leading you by the hand.”

Alastor’s eyes brightened, like the sun at dusk before it vanished over the horizon. “Is that why you’re acting in such a way? You should work on your body language.”

Husk frowned. “You know my body language is top tier.” Then he grinned back. “It’s why you can’t keep your eyes off me.”

Alastor leaned in closer, took one of Husk’s hands to pin it to the table. “Bad kitty.”

“Hey, I told you to lay off the cat jokes.” But Husk could barely talk back now, because Alastor was closer now, pressing their bodies together. He could even feel the other’s hot breath. His heart raced.

“But you said you’ll do whatever I want, so maybe you should just take it.”

Alastor’s kiss was hot and rough, and Husk took it gladly like a man dying of thirst, finally finding water at the edge of a desert. It had been weeks of back and forth between them before finally getting something.

“Mm…” Husk moaned into Alastor’s mouth, a little surprised that the Radio Demon was a good kisser. That he knew just how to use his tongue to make Husk’s wings furl, how to make his teeth catch his bottom lip without scratching.

“More,” Husk whispered, the memory of death so close now completely forgotten.

It continued to be buried further and further with every kiss from Alastor, who also made sounds and who also seemed to be as lost in this. Husk used his free arm to wrap it around Alastor’s neck, keeping him close. A leg shifted up, his hips moved.

“You’re still good,” Alastor told him between kisses, his words a mystery as always. Husk didn’t care, and lost himself to that particular dark.

The casino’s coffers were flowing in, and maybe it was that fact that made Husk just a little bit careless tonight. It was the constant high he was chasing, and that need made him forget about all the rumors swirling around the so-called Radio Demon.

And maybe also the fact that Alastor, sitting at the table, looked as menacing as any fawn out on the brookside.

Husk moved to sit on the craps table’s edge, right in front of Alastor. He swung a leg over the other, his leather shoes just lightly nudging against the other demon’s silly looking mic cane. Wings fanned out slightly before resting by his sides, like drapes.

“Tell you what, partner. I’m feeling pretty generous tonight.” Husk grinned as he looked down at Alastor. The table’s height gave him an edge, and maybe it just felt good to see Alastor just a little below his perch. “For helping out my establishment, I’ll do whatever you want.”

His tail flicked, maybe a little too often with the excitement. It was the thought of not knowing what would happen next.

With Alastor, everything was a mystery.

But he had noticed Alastor’s gaze the past few weeks, whether they were across the room from each other or standing side by side. Always looking, examining, leering at him like he was some bargain sale at a thrift shop. It was a gaze that tore through the surface to find the soul beneath, and Alastor never seemed to stop, even when he spoke about other things or chatted with other people.

Right now, in their privacy, Husk felt that same gaze. Intensifying and eager. Alastor looked up at Husk, with a close-lipped smile of his own. One of those rare times that he didn’t show off his sharp teeth.

“Is this another gamble of yours, Husker?” Alastor asked. He placed his chin against his hand, his other dangerously close to Husk’s leg. Claws that could easily rip the fabric of his suit if he wished.

Husk could see no danger signs, not even in the light of Alastor’s eyes. He’d always been so narrow-minded in his goals, and this was no different.

“We can say that, if you wanna bet along with me.” Hands were placed on the table at his sides, waiting with as much patience as he could. “Or you could say I’m giving you the go-ahead.”

A soft shift of light in Alastor’s eyes. Husk knew he was close.

The demon could be frustrating in his patience, but when Husk felt one hand touch his thigh, he had to do all he could to not chuckle in victory. Alastor slowly lifted up from his chair, gaining back the height as he looked down at Husk—and then gently pushed him down on the table. A hand was carefully placed against Husk’s chest, fingers rubbing against fabric and the stray tufts of fur that snuck out between the shirt’s openings. Alastor continued looking at him with that soft smile.

Husk let his body be as limp as a doll, knocking aside a few chips with his wings. Feathers rustled, along with the wrinkling of his suit. Alastor leaned over him like some tower in the dark, lit up by red.

“If what you say is true, my friend, then you’ll have no trouble listening to me.” A pause, before he leaned in a bit closer, blocking the hanging light in the room with his body. “Close your eyes.”

Husk raised an eyebrow at the command. “Really? You take me for some blushing virgin, kid?”

Alastor shook his head. “Remember what you said.”

Husk rolled his eyes. “Fine then. You’re the boss.” And then he did so, shutting his eyes so that Alastor’s smiling face was the last thing he saw.

He expected much of anything, like the unbuttoning of his shirt or a press of lips at his chest. He expected hands to explore and invade where they could, for these were all things he would have done if the positions were reversed.

Except, he found himself waiting. And waiting. And still waiting so that Husk’s back was aching against the hard table. He didn’t hear much of anything either besides the faint static, which was starting to become annoying when there was literally nothing else to listen to.

"How can you even think about helping me," Husk whispers, narrowing his eyes at Alastor's chest, "if you're still so messed up yourself?"

If Alastor's hand pauses, if there's a slight shift, it's not something his boss, his soul owner, his self-appointed caretaker will ever mention. Alastor grips some of those feathers in warning, as if he would pull out the rest.

"You're going to have to be a bit more specific, dear."

The demon always thinks he's so hilarious.

Husk has only seen the wound once, how it opened wide like a sharp-fanged mouth, held together by green threads. To think it still hasn't healed, but Husk is only assuming by the scent. His claws furl into the shirt.

Alastor notices. He grips Husk's wing feathers even tighter in response. "Don't be a naughty pet."

"I'm not your pet," Husk hisses out. Then, he tears down Alastor's shirt in the middle.

He refuses to ignore this.
