I don’t know the context of this conversation at all, but it reminded me of the Echo that they drive in Psych, affectionately called “The Blueberry”, which is a color called Speedway Blue. In one episode they had a red loner car (also an echo) they called The Cranberry.
There could also be privacy issues. Signal doesn't do this, but many things stick themselves in the middle using their own url shortener. This used to be the case in Twitter DMs but appears to have changed when they went E2EE. It is still the case if you link in a tweet (posted or not).
