King Charles, wearing the ceremonial porcelain crown while accepting Sir Keir Starmer's resignation.
I know! But we do say "Mayor of London" without the "Greater" -- even the office uses that term/branding. And we do say "Lord Mayor of London" without specifying the City. Though, as it happens, there's currently a Lady Mayor.
It's kind of weird how watering down Net Zero has become a political litmus test in Labour. Net Zero was in the last TORY manifesto!
I see DHS has given up even trying to say that they shot in self-defence. "fearing for public safety"? What, was he wearing a suicide bomb vest? What fears for public safety were there here beyond not wanting him to get away?
Potential gift to the killer's defence team. "It wasn't him, it was one of these people who sent a weird email to Nigel Farage".
There have always been some stories that blow up into scandals for no obvious reason, while others are treated as just a bit of fun. Compare, eg, Obama's tan suit (scandal!) and Trump's Covfefe tweet (delightful whimsy?)
OK, Twitter profiles with statue avatars have convinced me that Helen of Troy was white. Also, I remember she hatched from an egg. So I refuse to watch any version of the Odyssey that doesn't make the obvious casting choice.
OK, now we can compare like for like. Two years ago, almost to the day, Joe Biden called Zelensky "President Putin" at the NATO summit. It was a major international news story covered in the mainstream press as a sign Biden was losing it.
Platner in a video, following the rape accusation, denying it but says that he's "taking time to reflect on the best path forward". Either he's considering withdrawing or wants to look like he is.
Maybe the Platner rumours are true. But maybe they're just people manipulating the betting odds *ahem* prediction markets.
US conservatives are obsessed with the idea that in Britain, the police will arrest you for social media posts or demand you take them town. It's like a totemic example of how America is a free society. And yet...
you're literally an eyeball so I bow to your superior powers of vision but I think those white slabs are granite. This 2013 article talks about them. americanbuildersquarterly.com/2013/corman-...
This is supposed to look like a Q drop. How many people who aren't themselves QAnon believers, or at least QAnon-curious, would even recognise this enough to get the 'joke'?
Looks like Starmer is using the Sunak Resignation Lectern, itself created as an alternate version of the famous Truss Resignation Lectern but with a straight shaft instead of a twisty one.
Well, that was rather overwhelming. Self-selecting sample that's highly likely to be biased towards power users, of course, but that's sort of my point. Almost none of us are using the algorithmic timelines here.
Have you disabled the local LLM that Chrome now installs and runs automatically? I was having some issues too and they've been massively better since I turned the setting off
When I want Google Lens to give me when I photograph the QR code on my new car battery: the warranty link the QR code encodes. What I get: A GenAI guess based on other places where people have used QR codes in the past...
