Necktop owner. Sucker for new perspectives. Interested in empirical reality, but still a naive pragmatist.
Quick reminder: all life on Earth, you included, is related to each other. So that tree in your garden is your distant family.
🐈 enough already! Yes I do sometimes adore cats. But will hardly ever interact with a cat post. Get too many of those and try not to encourage the system. To no avail: I have cats flying around everywhere! @bsky.app how do I change the algorithm so I get fewer pets in my feed? 1 cat per week= ok
Little did I know! Sweden and The Netherlands were neighbours overseas (East coast US) for about 17 years till the New England Colonies took over. 🇸🇪 🇳🇱

Orgel's Second Law: "Evolution is cleverer than you are." Applies to just about everything that had millions of years to evolve. The universe itself included. Photo: left Francis Crick, right Leslie Orgel.

1/3 of the content you see may originate from bots, trolls, or coordinated influence operations. Well over 1/2 of overall internet traffic is now generated by non-human bots. Is there life on Mars?
#fulufjallet #sweden Fulufjället National Park, Sweden, yesterday afternoon. Stunning nature around the corner. Feeling blessed!
Not for sale. Not for bribery. Not for grabs. Europeans will fight for Greenland. #standwithgreenland
Nature is: ◇ mind bogglingly beautiful ◇ horrendously indifferent ◇ cleverer than you are (Orgel's 2nd) ◇ ... ◇ ... What would you add to this list?
The iconic Vondelkerk went up in flames this night. This church was part of my childhood memories. Was is worth the few minutes of fireworks? I'm sad and upset. Now I'm not anti fireworks but please keep this sh!t central, safe and controlled. #vondelkerk
Observation. The human brain, as I understand, is running on a mere 20 watts of power. It is terrible at spotting what is and isn't real, it conserves energy using shortcuts, making us easy prey for lies, conspiracies, and tribalism. 20 watts. No wonder we love shortcuts.
note to self: naming convention on the brink of discovery, how long before we get rid of terms like "dark"
One of the oldest pictures of Utrecht was actually of this very city gate "De Wittevrouwenpoort", taken around 1853-1858.
Utrecht city wall around 1770. Possibly by Isaac Lodewijk La Fargue (1726-1805).
For better or for worse, about 2, perhaps even 3 generations will have "Braveheart" as their first association to Wallace, in particular this scene below.

"Girl in a Red Kimono" by George Hendrik Breitner (1857–1923), featuring the original portraits of Geesje Kwak, one of Breitner’s most prominent models. In 1895, Geesje emigrated to South Africa, where she tragically died of tuberculosis just a few years later, at only 22 years of age. #breitner

When it comes to the costume, it seems probably Dutch, but could possibly be Prussian. Still inconclusive. I have taken the example of Pieter III Feijo Onno Sickinghe (Groningen, February 5, 1824 – The Hague, August 8, 1885), a Dutch lieutenant colonel from that time, to compare his picture.
