They have whey concentrate. That’s what I buy. I currently have the unflavored so I can use it in smoothies of any kind, but I’ve also used the chocolate and it is quite tasty. Those are the two I’ve tried.
Yesterday was a good training day. The goal was 7 miles and I did 7. It was broken up to mimic the structure of my B race, a trail relay in September. First run, I wore a mask due to air quality. Second it was a little better so no mask needed, ran on trail. 3rd run was comfortable, just 2 miles.
Today’s ride was an easy one. Just to get out while the air was good. Keeping an eye on the wind. They’re saying tomorrow may be poor again. If so the long run will be indoors.
The air quality is good but it’s a rest day for me. I am thinking about doing a quick bike ride just to enjoy the breathing!😮💨
Today’s run was at the gym due to the high AQI. I also did a lower body strength session. Air quality is down to 115, which is unhealthy for sensitive groups. Better but not yet normal.
Today in Chicago. No outdoor running. I didn’t even walk on my break.
Wednesday’s workout was a core strength session followed by a 45 minute tempo run. Ran inside due to very warm weather. Tuesday the air went out at my work and we closed down early. So hot!
Yesterday was an active rest day with just a bit of commuting by bike and dog walking. Today I managed an easy run with strides and a push/pull strength session.
A nice run today. 4.5 easy recovery miles. Goal speed was 11:25 per mile. Averaged 11:12.
Walk with the pups at the break of dawn. My hometown is beautiful.
Felt better but still a little wonky. Did a lower body strength session and a speed interval session. It wasn’t too hard and I got tangible anaerobic benefit from it. Today I feel just the good kind of sore.
Because of my 14 day cycle, every other week my runs and strength are on the same day. That’s this week. Did a full body de-load session, followed by a recovery paced 5 miles. Today, my goal is to cycle to and from work.

Managed to make it back to the bike path this morning. Did a short walk there on the dirt trails yesterday with the doggies but it was too hot to go far.
Growing pumpkins is the funnest! We always let the kids pick their pumpkin and scraped their name in the skin and it would scar it in as they grew!
My long run was today. 10k. Felt pretty good. Fairly even pacing. We went a few hours south of the city to get away from the noise. Ran on a beautiful bike path through a conservation area. Going to take pics when we walk the dogs tomorrow am. Friday was upper body strength before we left.
Good morning my friends! It as too hot to do threshold run outside this morning. So I did it on the treadmill. Intervals length improves. Needed to maintain between 9:32-9:17. Did two bouts of 1.5 miles moving through 6.3,6.4, and 6.5mph w/2 min jog in between. Longest time I’ve managed post-surgery
Training update: Yesterday was 4 miles. Hotter, slower, and more difficult than my previous run but still managed negative splits. Today was a casual bike ride to and from the gym and lower body and core.
Today was rest from running, but push/pull day at the gym. Nice to get it done early.
I have two ceramic-covered-tin coffee pots decorated in Swedish painting and writing which belonged to my Great Aunt Hattie. I believe they are from near the turn of the century. I use them to make tea.
I got out and did it! Felt better than expected. Negative splits! Warm but manageable.
Training catch up: Wednesday was speed intervals and lower body strength training. Friday was recovery run and upper body strength training. Didn’t feel well yesterday. Glad it was a rest day. Hoping to get out there today.
Making progress. What seems to be working is: running every other day. Increasing either 10% volume of each run or intensity of the run I’m replacing. Cycling or rest on off days. MWF strength, done first. Magnesium at night to help aid sleep and recovery. My legs are less trashed than before.
Good morning Bluesky! Enjoyed a mild recovery bike ride today. Just an easy 5.3 miles to move my legs a different way. Kept the heart rate low. Had a nice walk yesterday evening as well. Look at my sky!
Best debut album of all time? The Violent Femmes by the Violent Femmes.
Ran outside. My long run was 5.5. Which feels short for a long run, BUT…I didn’t run/walk. I ran the whole thing, outdoors on pavement. Ended the run at the gym with upper body strength. Slept well last night. Maintaining. Training is going well. I have a solid base to move forward.
Got to the gym this morning after a better night’s rest. Managed my push/pull strength training and a tempo session on the treadmill. Status says strained still, but my sleep was good and I had normal HRV over night. I did not feel fatigued like I had the last couple of days. Actually felt strong.
