I'm Dexter! I'm a hobbyist creator looking to develop my visual storytelling skills and establish effective routines for completing long-term projects.
Kinda cool to stop and notice a part of my process I usually do without thinking. When I start a drawing, I block in the pose pretty quickly with basic shapes and lines. Then it becomes much easier to flesh out the details over that frame. It's a sitting triceratops, btw.
A couple more, simpler animation practices: 1. A "flick" kind of motion, in different contexts
One more of those animation practices. Different head movements/timings ^^
It started with just the chewing motion, but then I kept adding other motions to it, and that definitely helped it feel more alive :)
Been a while since I made one of these :) Amphibia - Sprig, Hopediah, and Polly Plantar 🐸
I went back and remade the first drawing I did on my tablet back in 2021, making a few notes of what I've gotten better at :)
Practicing character variation - they're all roosters, but each has a unique and distinct design.
An animation I did this week. The finalized version is on the ol' P site :P
Some suggested I draw a full-body piece of my most recent girl character. Gave it a try ^^
This was a fun little character drawing exercise! Using the head and limbs to make dynamic, expressive poses while leaving the body as a plain ol' circle. Feels like a great example of "doing more with less" 😁
Sharks I like how these turned out. Strong, simple shapes with bold lines, but they don't feel stiff :)
"He drew Richard in the Hanna-Barbera style!" Not quite. Here's what that would *actually* look like :P
