Enthusiast and man-about-town.
Big Boy is also the patron god of midnight movies, which have always been there for me when times are hard.
Feel like a couple of these photos could be easily repurposed as a new Geordi meme
Very similar to the story related in the grunge-scene documentary HYPE! where the NYT printed a listicle of "grunge slang" as told to them by a Seattle indie record label employee who decided to have a bit of fun with some credulous journos.
But in a way, isn't every account about Popeye when you really think about it?
Had the Astrosniks (German knockoff Smurfs from space) ever gotten their own TV show, it would have been at least three times as unremembered as the Snorks.
Spotted a FactPost skeet with an obvious AI-generated Vance voice reading this excerpt from his memoir aloud, and had to track down the quote to see if it was actually real, and apparently it is? www.yahoo.com/news/politic...
I remember thinking back in 2016 that Trump was basically what would happen if the Nolan/Ledger Joker ran for President, but now I'm getting distinct Burton/Nicholson Joker vibes.
Compare that to the Dems turnout for Acton, running unopposed in her primary: Over 742K votes out of only about 800K registered Dems in the WHOLE state. That's 92%! There's still about 5.7M unaffiliated voters out there, but that's a WILD party-enthusiasm gap for Ramaswamy to have to beat.
Ramaswamy got just under 300K votes out of roughly 1.5M registered Republican voters in the state. Which means that only about 20% of them even bothered to show up for him against Casey Putsch, a frothing racist nutjob who still managed to pull in 64K votes from the furthest-right fringe.
I think an even more stark example is the egregiously deepfaked Luke Skywalker that appeared in The Book of Boba Fett. The AI-simulated voice performance (supposedly based on line readings by Hamill, ordinarily a fine voice actor) was utterly lifeless, like hearing words being typed out one by one.
Far-future archaeologists unearthing the cultural detritus of the past century are going to assume either that Ellison owned Warner Bros Records in the 1970s or that Devo were a 2020s band with a fierce loyalty to WB's CEO, because why else would they have put his face on their major-label debut?
Looking at Wikipedia's list of current late-night programs, I feel the funniest/most unlikely possibility is Andy Cohen? I also thought of John Mulaney, but his Netflix show has only been on for a year so he wouldn't have been able to have an affair with an audience member 6 years ago.
There's always the "Vinculum Gate" sequences in Killer 7, where the areas before the boss fights are always preceded by a shadowy nightclub entrance that appears to exist in a sort of Lynchian liminal-space.
At the time, I assumed it was Skynet who sent the Terminator back to 1991 to kill Guns N' Roses, but now I'm wondering if it was some future human-led resistance trying to avert the creation of the Board of Peace.
That's some real Jedi Librarian level logic on the comms rep's part
I'm sure it's just a fun coincidence that AI slop bro's gotten slapped with one of these too. Thanks for the heads up @moderation.blacksky.app, it's appreciated.
DC Comics also has to call up Dave Gibbons whenever they do a new printing of Watchmen, to have him adjust the position of the blood spatter every time the smiley face button appears. The book just keeps getting more and more apocalyptic.
Sounds like a simpler version of George Lakoff's "truth sandwich": en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_...
