2012 – Hanly Funderburk died at the age of 81. Funderburk served as the twelfth president of Auburn University from 1980 until 1983. He would then serve as president of Eastern Kentucky University from 1984 until 1998. #WarEagle #AUHistory

1994 - Two months after being announced as the head coach at the University of New Orleans, Tommy Joe Eagles died of a heart attack. The former Auburn Basketball head coach never coached a game for New Orleans. #WarEagle #AUHistory

2021 - Dr. Jane B. Moore dies at 85. Moore was a pioneer for women's athletics at Auburn, considered the most influential woman in Auburn Athletics history. The Softball field was named in her honor in 2002. #WarEagle #AUHistory

1882 – Isaac Tichenor resigns as the president of the East Alabama Male College (now Auburn University). William Broun would be appointed as his replacement, becoming the fourth president of the school. #WarEagle #AUHistory

1884 – The board of trustees re-elected William Broun as the president of the Agricultural & Mechanical College. Broun resigned the year prior after the board refused to implement his recommendations. He replaced David Boyd who returned to LSU as president. #WarEagle #AUHistory

1932 – James Martin is born. Martin would serve as the fourteenth president of Auburn University from 1984 until 1992. The Auburn graduate was honored with being the namesake of the Aquatics Center on campus. #WarEagle #AUHistory

2019 - Despite tearing his ACL weeks prior, the Orlando Magic selected Chuma Okeke with the 16th overall pick in the NBA Draft. Chuma became the first Auburn Tiger drafted since Jamison Brewer was picked in 2001. #WarEagle #AUHistory

1876 - Mike Donahue is born in Ireland. Donahue would coach basketball, baseball, track, soccer, and football during his time at Auburn. He coached football for 18 seasons, going 106-35-5. Three of his teams went undefeated & four only had one loss. #WarEagle #AUHistory

2022 - After 25 years as Track & Field and Cross Country head coach, Ralph Spry retired. The Auburn XC/Trac program had just four head coaches in over a century. Spry lead the program for 25 years. #WarEagle #AUHistory

1938 – Bradford Knapp dies at the age of 67. Knapp served as the eighth president of the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University) from 1928 until 1933. He would go on to be president of Texas Tech from 1933 until his death. #WarEagle #AUHistory
