D. Bowie, not The Bowie. Failed musician, software dev. Music, Transformers, comics, And a lot of other weird crap. If the band is playing, shut up. Naarm / Melbourne. He/him. 🏳️🌈 Bi flag emoji
Art borrowed from Transformers: Generation 1 #3A, cover artist Pat Lee
Anyone know the artist of this Transformers art? Do you think they knew their art was used as advertising for a Melbourne night club in 2006?
The early draft of Queens of the Stone Age's "Feel Good Hit of the Summer" was a lot less fun.
Pretty fun find when looking through zines at SLV today: Melbourne based Squatters Handbook 1993 - have you seen this @purplepingers.bsky.social ?
Finally saw the new iteration of The Sharp @ the tiny Dog's Bar in St Kilda. Nostalgia.
Also how great is the Australian bush? Pretty great (when it's only 20C and not 50C)
Pretty great holiday over Easter - spotted tens of kangaroos inc. joeys, an echidna, various birds (Magpies, wrens, king parrots) and this one weird bug.
Took the train to John Cain Arena (ex Hisense Arena (ex Telstra Dome)) to see Bloodywood and Babymetal with Magnolia Park - think for future arena shows I'll go seats. The "pit" is not a fun experience for a 5 decade back.
Discovered a cool vintage toy in an auction and in researching it before bidding I discovered a random video testing toys for lead and this particular one came up VERY positive. So might leave that one alone...
Bloody fantastic gig yesterday @ The Tote. Feel bad for Screaming Target as I thought they were pretty good, but The Hard-Ons blew them out of the water... And then Redd Kross dominated them both. And to top it off it was an early gig all over by 7pm.
Was so pleased to spot these guys in the wild when in Vancouver in 2015
Fantastic breakfast, all day at the library viewing old music mags, drinks and dinner with old work mates, then a quick gig at The Toff (The Acrobats). On train home. All days can be this nice plz.
I dunno what flavour these were supposed to be, they were a bit chewy
I'll try the new Metro to get to the library... No trains for 50 minutes? Cool.
Visited the old Dancing Dog (now Mamma Chen's) in Footscray to see Anouk Ely's album launch, followed by Regurgitator in never before duo mode (with occasional drum machine). Anouk was fantastic: consumevalve.bandcamp.com/album/hunter...
Occasional visits to the city to go to State Library Victoria also means fancy breakfast
Spent last couple of days dusting and reorganising the little-transforming-guys shelves. Have a few apparently. Need to sell some.
11 years ago today, a glorious day at Fox Glacier and Gillespies Beach.
