I'm so pleased my solar powered fountain continues to work even if the sun is hidden behind a thick layer of cloud. The birds love it & it's good they have a clean water source to drink from as puddles and creeks dry up with the summer heat.
Even in the shade & under overcast skies this new solar fountain still works! I'm pleased with how it's bubbling away. Seven nozzles to choose from but the birds like this flow the best. I found there's less water wastage. It doesn't splash outside the bowl or evaporate like with the finer sprays.
I potted up this iris last fall and this spring is produced a beautiful stem of flowers. I've see other varieties of bearded irises, but all had other blends of colours, not this solid, deep purple. Does anyone know what variety this is?
Rauru is so cute! I thought my cat was the only one that sat like this. Bella is a senior cat and I thought it is an age thing.
I don't know my own strength. This morning when I was working out and doing some resistance training I scared myself when I made this snap in half. This is the second one I've destroyed.
It's #Caturday, so here's a pic of Bella when she was a kitten. She'll be 16 this fall & she is as demanding as ever.
Spent an hour or so weeding the backyard garden in the company of my cat. I enjoyed being surrounded by the scent of the skimmia in bloom & the bleeding hearts. She enjoyed rolling on the warm paving stones while watching me wrestle with crabgrass & dandelion roots.
To celebrate this #Caturday, it's a pic of my Bella. She'll be 16 this fall.
Studying/teaching martial arts for 45+ years based on 6 traditional samurai schools & 3 schools of ninjutsu helped to write fight scenes. Also building working scale models of a trebuchet & catapult helped immensely, too! Alas, the war machines are only big enough to launch cat toys for Bella.

I received this beautiful bouquet from my lovely niece Holly & her hubby Behram to kick off my week of birthday celebrations!
Yay! This winter's Project Feeder watch bird count will include 25 junco, a big pileated woodpecker, small downy woodpecker, a northern flicker & 3 Steller jays. They must be enjoying this sunny weather for a change.
Over Christmas the family worked on this 3-D puzzle of a book store, a gift we received from one of our dear friends.
I was so busy taking down Xmas decorations I forgot again that yesterday was #caturday. To make up for it, this is the look Bella gave when she saw her plush tree skirt was missing. She liked hiding under the tree in comfort.
On Saturday I volunteered to help with the Audubon bird count. When I sent my bird count from the feeder watch to the organizer she said I got many birds she did not. She got soaked and figured the birds were staying close to feeders than to venture too far in the rain storm.
So, on New Year's day I plan to eat what could very well be the last Cherry Blossom chocolate in Canada! They stopped production in late 2024/early 2025 and I managed to scoop a few at a local store before they all disappeared. Took it out of storage & will bite into it tomorrow.
My TBR pile got even bigger over Christmas. My DD selected these titles, including a signed copy of Louise Penny's The Black Wolf, for Christmas!
