One of my favorite things about parenthood so far is reading through the strong thoughts and spicy takes on children’s TV shows and songs from other parents. I love that we get so invested. My current favorite:

“So Oona and Baba are clearly young kids and live with their parents. We see Silky's mom and Mama Hedgehog and there are references to other parents, like when the baby starling needs to find her family. Bernie is kind of a local grouchy uncle and Flynne seems kind of like a surly teen.

But what's the deal with Mossy and Mae? They appear to be Oona's peers, but Mae seems to live alone and Mossy is with the Shrew Crew. Are they full grown? And what's up with the Hoots? Otto is clearly older than Pip and Pop but it seems more like he's their brother than their dad. But we see them sleeping all the time and there's clearly no parents in their log and Otto seems to be responsible for them. Is Puffin Rock full of orphans? I think about this a lot.”

The first comment is:

“Look man, it’s a children’s cartoon.

That means it’s safe to assume that they have all been either shot by poachers, eaten in the most tragic fashion, or otherwise fallen to their own hubris to which their progeny will soon also fall.

Kid stuff.”

Here is a great example that just came up.

For context, I use Otter for a few reasons:
1. I sometimes struggle with auditory processing, so it is really helpful to have a real-time transcript to fall back on during the meeting.
2. I really struggle with being able to both take notes and fully participate in a conversation at the same time, and I rely heavily on the notes to maintain context from week to week.
3. Identifying action items for both of us.
4. Insight generation: this one is a bit more complex, but at the moment I have it generate two types of insight during 1:1s. First is any feedback or career advice that I give to you, and the second is any feedback that you give to me. I like to track both of these things to make sure that I'm providing regular feedback to you and that I'm adapting to feedback given to me.

You would have access to the generated notes, transcript, and insights. Everything it creates would be visible to only you and me."

That would be my blanket! When I was a baby, I would scrunch up my baby blanket and rub it against my skin. It still brings me great comfort, so I created a pocket-sized version of it. Other favorites include tapping, wringing my hands, humming, flicking, flapping, scrunching my face, etc.

This’ll do, I suppose! 😄 Though I will say that these seats are not fat friendly. I know that’s because they wanted to cram as many Mint suites as possible onto the plane, but still. JetBlue can and must do better.
