A Democrat had been in the White House for eight years and people were still hungry for they change they voted for and didn't get - and Hillary was promising more of the same. She had higher disapproval ratings than approvals. And she said this:

Hillary Clinton saying, "If we broke up the big banks tomorrow - and I will, if they deserve it, if they pose a systemic risk, I will - would that end racism? Would that end sexism?" As if they hadn't just wrecked the global economy and she had a plan to end racism and sexism instead.

The "leftists"? Oh, honey, we're the middle-mainstream. We want Democratic policies, the ones we used to win with all the time until the DLC took over. History already shows that you're wrong.

Dems didn't lose the south after 1964; Dems controlled Congress and even some southern legislatures right up until 1994. The "New Democrats" threw that away. (Kevin Baker November 2024)
