I'm not sure what possessed me to go this summer...and to go alone...but it was exactly what I needed.
The beach was crazy because you can hear it off in the distance but you can't see it until you climb over this sand dune. And then there it is--this massive miles-long beach that is so desolate and quiet. Breathtaking.
I chose it because it was on the ocean. I did the 1.25 mile walk to the beach pretty early in the morning and it was VERY foggy and cold (I was cold the entire trip!! Below 55* the whole time pretty much!)
First campground: Bullards Beach along the coast of Oregon. First lighthouse of the trip. The campground was super nice, and no, it wasn't scary to camp there alone. Tons of families, lots of people all over the place. Bathrooms were amazingly clean.

Today's Baseball Lore: I keep asking what the hell that hand signal from the Giants means when they get on base. They do a strange clapping motion with fingers interwoven. Finally found an explanation that I guess makes sense. It means "unity" or "it's all coming together." Makes sense.
