Do not point your camera directly at the sun

My camera pointed directly at the sun.

The sun is behind a cloud, emitting a bright light. Hue shifts can be seen in the nearby clouds, giving them subtle rainbow coloring.

At the furthest point of the image, in the center, sits the Arc de Triomphe. It's being lit by a cooler (but still warm) shade of light than the trees and most of the street.

Shooting at night is challenging, I'm not very good at keeping my hands steady ! A lot of pictures end up blurry.

Night fell while I was having dinner. I kept walking to take more pictures. I loved the lighting. Colors everywhere ! Of course I had to take a picture of the tower, so here it is.

The Eiffel Tower at night. It is lit with red and blue lights, both from inside and outside.

On top, two bright spotlights are shining into the sky, like searchlights - but horizontally.

The base is hidden by trees. In the background, light poles are lighting up a bridge above the Seine river of a warm yellow light.

No specific theme here, just a couple more photos before moving on to night time.

Yesterday evening, I took a walk through the city to take some pictures. As usual, most of them ended up not good or boring (or blurry)... but I think some of them are actually ok ? I'd like to share some of them with you... let's start with some birds ! @bskyphotos.bsky.social #photography

A pigeon takes flight from an art installation in the Domaine du Palais Royal, Paris.

The installation, which doubles as a fountain, consists of reflective metal balls of varying sizes placed in a sort of large dish (a few meters in diameter).

Another pigeon is walking on the side of the fountain.

Many stone columns flank the installation, as seen on the right side and in the background.

The weather is clear.

Leaves and trees fill the background and the sides of the picture.

A crow (?) perched on the head of a statue in the Tuileries Garden (the one in front of the Louvre Museum).

The statue is reaching its hand far to the left, which is the direction the crow is pointing its head in.

Red parasols (closed) can be seen in the background, indicating some sort of restaurant nearby.

So I (green) was drawing the Silent on the map and my friend (pink) added a pink dot for the eye and... that's not quite what I was going for lol silly game

Oooh enjoy your camera ! And maybe this picture of a bird I took last summer :

A picture of a gull (white bird, gray wings, yellow beak, slightly larger than a pigeon) from a low angle.

Taken at dusk, the warm sunlight (coming from the bottom-right of the image) sharply lights the back of the bird, creating a contrast with its abdomen and face that are in the shade (though the darker areas are still well lit, allowing to clearly see the bird and the texture of its feathers).

In the background is the sky spotted by yellow-orange clouds.

Yooo I'm doing textures now !!

The same picture, but now the background is textured. Most of it is plain red, with some polygons having various details around their lines like ambient occlusion and wear.

I think I'm starting to understand how UV unwrapping works !

A UV map as seen in blender. It's a sort of 2D top-down view of all surfaces in a model laid down flat, representing the space they will occupy in the texture.
