There's an issue of Astonishing X-Men that is almost entirely Blink fighting Holocaust and it is incredible. Madureira just burning up every page.

In the opening of the Star Trek: The Motion Picture novelization, written by Gene Roddenberry, there's a foreword "written" by Kirk that mentions the events of TOS were exaggerated by fictional accounts:
Something a lot of people miss in the movie is the war starts because Mormons invade arachnid territory. From that point on, everything the humans do is aggressive no matter how "subtly" (not subtle at all) Verhoeven frames their actions because the arachnids are just defending themselves!
