RINGS OF SATURN: SONIC WEEKLY:
*Ninja Jajamaru-kun: Onigiri Ninpouchou* for PlayStation has an unreported cheat code. Enter Up, Down, Triangle, X, Circle at the main menu to make your character tiny!
It's very rare, but if you hit the "generate random stats" button enough times in *Sangokushi V* for Saturn, you can get all of your attributes maxed out. I calculate the odds as 1 in 2 million. The game has special logic for this!
*Hankou Shashin* is a visual novel for Saturn. There's an undocumented cheat code for it - hold A+C+X+Z+L+R on controller 2 while picking a save file to activate debug mode. You'll see a scene number display on the HUD. You can skip and revisit scenes with Controller 2.
*Jikuu Tantei DD: Maboroshi no Lorelei* (Dracula Detective) for Saturn has a monster 30 button cheat code that's very difficult to enter before the title screen times out... its only effect is to let you pause cutscenes with the Z button.
I reverse engineered the cheat code system for the Nintendo 64 version of Command & Conquer, revealing a low level debug mode code with some cool stuff - including a message to the programmer's cat. 32bits.substack.com/p/under-the-...
Here's a cheat code for *Black/Matrix* on Saturn that I don't think has been published before. At the title screen, press Z, Y, X, C, B, A, Start. You'll get an alternative background for the main menu. As far as I can tell, this is the only effect!
If you finish *The Legend of Oasis* for Saturn in under 5 hours, you get a ranking of "SONIC." Under 3 hours ranks you as "RAY." Do they mean the flying squirrel, or some other Ray? The world may never know.
Here's an unpublished code for *Die Hard Trilogy* on Saturn. Hold R at the game select screen and enter this sequence: Right, Up, Down,B, C, Right,Up, Down, B. The build date, Nov 8 1996, will be displayed.
@priceofreason.bsky.social @danthrax.bsky.social Is this the PSX bonus content that you found on the Saturn version?
Here's a previously-unreported cheat code for *Blast Radius* (Psygnosis, 1999) on PlayStation: * Go to the main menu * Enter Up, Down, L2, L1, Select, R2, Down, Select, Up, Up, Down, L2 Now you can select your starting level with the shoulder buttons.
I found some previously unreported cheat codes and hidden leftovers in *Virtual Golf* for Saturn and PlayStation: * A cheat for unlocking pro status * A cheat that makes the golf balls comically large * A Sega screen in the PSX version * The name "SwagGolf?" 32bits.substack.com/p/under-the-...
*Tekken 2* has several alternate backgrounds for the main menu that refer to the "1996 Tekken 2 Area Championship". You can activate them in the NTSC-U version by setting 800a3646 to something nonzero.
This is the full set of codes from the game data. Looks like a TCRF contributor found some extras in 2019: tcrf.net/Talk:Road_Ra...
Here's an unreported cheat code for *HSX: HyperSonic.Xtreme* on PlayStation 2. Enter it at the main menu while holding L1+R1: Right, Circle, Left, Left. This unlocks all of the series in single player mode.
*The Flintstones: Viva Rock Vegas*, the PlayStation 2 PAL exclusive racing game, has a cheat code that unlocks alternate courses, all vehicles, and The Great Gazoo. At the title screen, hold L1+L2+R1+R2+Left+Circle until you hear "Yabba dabba do!".
Here are some cheats for *Dune 2000* on PSX seem to be new. Press Triangle, then select these from the sidebar: * Complete mission: Circle, Square, X, X, X, Triangle * Fail mission: Triangle, Circle, Triangle, X, Square, Square * Freeze action: X, Circle, X, Circle, X, Circle
How necessary was all this? Not terribly - you can explore the courses in the Tag and Balloon modes in the normal game. But I liked the idea of being able to get the collectibles and unlock the extra characters without having to rush!
Here's another title screen cheat: Up, Down, L1+Start. This enables all concept art.
*Stolen* for PC has a "guards have big heads and feet" cheat. I found the equivalent on PS2: at the title screen, press L1, R1, Down, Up, Start+L1. The game is so annoying dark that you can barely make out the effect most of the time. Here's a brightened image!
Here's a seemingly-unreported cheat code for *The Simpsons Wrestling* on PlayStation. At the title screen, enter: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Circle, L2, Circle, R2, Circle, L1, Circle, R1 This lets you use the same character twice in a match.
This works in the PC version, *Three Lions*, too: * Set P1 to England 1966 (Secret region) * Set P2 to Rep of Ireland (Europe region) * Enter → → ← ← → ↓ ← → → It's missing in the PSX PAL version, strangely! bsky.app/profile/bbay...
I swear this is a real screen in *Alexi Lalas International Soccer* for PSX. To get it: * Set up a Friendly match between the England 1966 team and Rep. of Ireland. * Enter R1 R1 L2 → R2 ← →. More here: 32bits.substack.com/p/under-the-...
*MX World Tour Featuring Jamie Little* for PlayStation 2 and Xbox has some unreported cheat codes that activate in response to special rider names: * AllRiders: Unlock bonus riders * OpenAllLevels: Unlock all tracks * HelmetsOff: No helmets * CheatIG1: Alternate menu background
*LMA Manager 2006* for PS2/Xbox expected you to call a pay-per-minute hotline to get "bonus codes" that were tied to your "unique ID." The hotline is gone, so are the cheats? No - I derived the RSA key that was used to generate them from the game data! 32bits.substack.com/p/under-the-...
Similarly, *Ford vs. Chevy" for PS2 and Xbox has an unreported cheat. * Go to the main menu on either the Ford or Chevy side * Press Up, Down, Left, Right. * Enter "POINTS" into the box You'll have 625K points to spend on cars! bsky.app/profile/bbay...
Here's a cheat code for *Running Wild* on PlayStation that I don't think has been reported. Enter it on the "Secret Options" screen: Square, Down, Down, R1, L2 It enables a first-person camera mode - normally the camera is behind your character.
There's a demo disc for *Frame Gride*, From Software's only Sega console game, that predates the retail release by two months. Normally the demo limits you to 2 levels, but I made a patch to enable 4 more - including one that's missing in the final version! 32bits.substack.com/p/extending-...
Here's something that's been hiding in *V-Rally 2* for PlayStation since 1999: a multiplayer Snake clone called ARAIGNOS! * Go to Options > Game Progression. * Enter: L1 R1 ← → ← → ↑ ↓↑ ↓ X X+Select. * Start a race. You need the PSX multi-tap to play it. 32bits.substack.com/p/under-the-...
