2/2 so today I’m doing the Beau spin on the fit. Same sort of unstructured jacket (here made of Baird McNutt Irish Linen). Higher rise. More trad fit, and no tie. Work in progress.
1/2 I’m always thinking in cinema stills, and that affects the clothes I wear. But sometimes that frame has to be approached with a critical gaze. I always remember this suit from No Time to Die. Too tight, pants are too low for me, and I don’t love the tie.
Convalescing by watching Brad Dourif in John Houston’s Wise Blood (1979). Boy, you know, there’s an Earth 2 out there where Dourif has a more mainstream career of weirdo character actor antics. Something more like Defoe.
The only whiff here is I think Trump 2.0 has really crippled an entire mode of liberal politics by destroying state capacity and undermining the legitimacy of the “policy state.”
I will always come back to this moment in time as an inflection point in the performance of hetero drag. Gender politics everywhere I look.
1/3 Just to be entirely clear, the premise of the joke isn’t anything to do w/ the subject’s sex crimes. When I said, “that was shitty,” I meant that you ~assumed~ my intent. I don’t care if people think what I say is funny.
Sachs has an interesting thread in the other place. But I don’t think any model works for opposing incursions on higher ed unless they impose costs on the folks at the gate. If your model depends on persuading red state lawmakers, I don’t think that is 2030s thinking.

To @smbrnsn.bsky.social’s point, the reviewer seems ambivalent about whether the weaknesses of the film are dictated by the plot structure between the films.
The problem with how Coggins wrote this piece is that he is just kind of imposing a dead western generation’s semiotics on the rest of us. You can reject that premise and still think that operating in the present means a skeptical approach to shorts in the office.
There is nothing inherently casual about shorts. Like all things in dress, it’s just about contingent semiotics. For example, in Bermuda, the Supreme Court allows attorneys to wear Bermuda shorts ~as long as they adhere to local formalwear custom. ~
Random bookstore pickup that’s worth its weight. Adding support to the thesis that the masculinity crisis never ends, it just changes aesthetics.
I am in the minority faction that thinks the the 2011 adaption of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy does not have more than a few portrayals that could hold a candle to the BBC adaption from a decades prior.
