#JustFinished MG Cole - Murder Is Skin Deep No2 in the series Having read n1 & been unsure, I now know these aren’t for me. Characters I just couldn’t buy into & the easiest conclusions made just so they could be disproved later. Not sure I can even be arsed taking it to Tesco bookdrop #BookSky
#NowSpinning The Meteors - Teenagers From Outer Space. Saw these supporting The Cramps when I’d never even heard of Psychobilly. Great stuff, so different to anything else I listened to at the time. Wish they played live more often now.
#JustFinished Denzil Meyrick - Jeremiah’s Bell N8 in a fantastic series of well told yarns. Apparently coming to the screen with TheHound as DCI Daley - nope, not in my head he isn’t. Still, can’t recommend these more for any other binge readers who don’t know them - great stuff #BookSky
#NowSpinning The Sound - All Fall Down Saw these support the Bunnymen at Mountford back in the day, but only really understood just how good they were in the last few years. Some great albums
#TheAnswers I always scan the whole quiz before deciding on final answers, so n7 made me go 😣 & ruined any train of thought (is the excuse I’ll be using) Zero here this week
#JustFinished Bought blind on a rec from a book site called Spyburg William Boyd - Gabriel’s Moon Never heard of him before 🙈 60s London, nicely written & perfectly descriptive to really let you into the story. He also meets a gobby left-wing Scouser, but otherwise no other stereotypes🙂 #BookSky
“Bring me the head of Colin the Caterpillar!” It’s my birthday so I demand the best bit🥳
#JustFinished Denzil Mayrick - The Relentless Tide. Back on track now, this is n6 (having read n7 first by mistake) & another good un. The only problem being layed up recovering is how quickly I’m ploughing through them #BookSky
#JustFinished The Last Orphan - Gregg Hurwitz N8 in the Orphan series, & a bit of a different outcome this one. He’s keeping fantastic levels of storytelling consistency here, lots of other series fizzle out by now having used all their ideas & scenarios. Good stuff, again. #BookSky
#JustFinished A Breath On Dying Embers - Denzil Mayrick Great stuff…..until I saw the list at the end & realised this is #7 & I haven’t read #6 yet. Gets right up my nose that…. #BookSky
#TheAnswers A not-kidding-myself 3: 1/4/8 Said Arctic for 3, knew it was an oak for 6 but couldn’t remember its name, knew Cape Fear for 11 but not the character, said all Paraguay games in the WC for 15 Gah! and indeed GAH!!
We’ve got a mole problem. I quite like moles…but not when the molehills start getting out of control. Had a stern word with the boys & Smaug has stepped up to the plate. Smaug 1 Moles 0
#JustFinished Well of the Winds - Denzil Mayrick N5 in the DCI Daley series & they just get better & better 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 #BookSky
#TheAnswers A best-for-ages 6: 2/3/6/8/10/12 Switched away from cats & went eagles for 9 Very disappointed 4 wasn’t the Moonies! 15 a great Q (I guessed possible homes for the Holy Grail😬)
#JustFinished Dark Horse - Greg Hurwitz N7 in the OrphanX series Another good one! Generalisation alert!: I find American fiction too simple (plot & writing) with most of the “big” authors, but not this fella - 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻 #BookSky
#JustFinished Slaughter of innocents - MGCole Hmmm Not sure about this, no1 in the series so maybe I should give no2 a go before deciding, but nowhere near as good as some other stuff I’ve read recently. #BookSky
#JustFinished The Rat Stone Serenade - Denzil Meyrick No4 in the DCI Daley series. A fantastic yarn, as twisty as Twisty the twisty weasel. Enjoyed it greatly #BookSky
