Never too late for breakfast, never too early for a beer. Here for food, beer, Disney, dad stuff...(fewer pancakes than you might expect)
I'm pretty pleased with my parcooked pizza crust process...I use a cake pan insert to weigh down the middle and allow the outer crust to puff up. The bottom crisps up nicely on my baking steel too. I will continue to experiment and see what can improve
A few weeks ago I made a bunch of Sicilian pizza dough and ended up with more than I needed for pizza night. So I par baked a crust, topped it with sauce and cheese, then froze it. Tonight, after some time in a 425F oven...it became dinner!
Tonight's grill platter includes turkey burgers, foil packet potatoes, and bok choy rab for dinner tonight. Also some chicken parts for future dinners is on there. See also the two hearted IPA for a grill beer.
Grill beer to help with some grilling tonight...grilled chicken and veggie sandwiches for dinner
I made pizza tonight! Here is a cheese pizza and a bbq chicken with caramelized onions
For lunch today: homemade roast beef with cheddar, horseradish mayo, and roasted red peppers
I'm starting a thread of what I make with these English muffins...starting with a double egg sausage and cheese...
I tweaked my* English muffin recipe a bit. I was frustrated with how it looked like the fermentation/proof went, but they ended up cooking up nicely. These are sourdough with tangzhong and took only 5 minutes of griddling per side. 🍜🍽️ *I really just added tangzhong to the recipe from Perfect Loaf
Had my first Oberon of the season at the zoo today...a zoo brew if you will
I've got a couple more English muffins left so I was reading up on eggs Benedict... apparently eggs Florentine was originally with a mornay sauce (I assumed it was just subbing spinach for ham). So I just made a cheese sauce for my mash up of Benedict/Florentine (muffin, spinach, ham, egg, sauce)
My wife lifted over 680 pounds in her weightlifting competition today...and I made mini marshmallows to put in cookies
Up and down cooking day today: my refreshed starter looked great, but my bread experiment failed with it...but then my daughter was super excited about helping with dinner which was awesome
Even though it was 45 degrees outside, I did grill those burgers and I did enjoy a #GrillBeer
I didn't want to wait until morning to have a meal with these, so we had burgers. Have you ever had burgers on English muffins? One of my favorite "buns"
They seem a bit dense but they toast up and eat nice. I think I need to think about either upping the hydration or improving my fermentation
They look like English muffins on the griddle! I combined a few recipes together for this test batch, and if it works out, I'll post the resulting recipe
It's 17 degrees right now but on Sunday, I "officially" started my grilling season with some meal prep chicken breasts and then a chuck steak for dinner (believe it or not, it was nice on Sunday) 🍽️🍜
My first attempt at a homemade Irish spice bag...it needs work, but I'm happy with it as a proof of concept (I've never had one before, but I see them online all the time now)
I was happy with these hoagie rolls but they were best after they went stale and I microwaved them a bit to soften up.
Made some cheesesteaks the other day with thinly sliced chuck, onions, provolone and homemade hoagie rolls. Making the rolls is tough because I feel like the ideal hoagie roll texture is different than "good" bread.
Looking forward to our next Disney trip (still months away) so for some "Disney hype" I made a copycat of the Le Cellier Canadian Cheddar Cheese (and bacon and beer) soup with pretzel bread bowls 🍜🍽️
I was disappointed in the bread I made yesterday, but if you toast it and top it with a bunch of stuff, it tastes great!
