Features we're adding to @userlist.com's new theme editor, that nobody will ever appreciate, but make me very happy: When saving theme schemas, server side validations will render inline in the embedded code editor 🤩

My co-founder @uibreakfast.com and I are "recovering perfectionists". To remind us to not chase perfection for forever, we established "Better Done Than Perfect" as our mantra. It went as far as naming our podcast after it, creating merch with the slogan on it, and her getting a "b.d.t.p." tattoo.

On the last episode of Slow & Steady, I talked about why it's important to remind people of who you are when emailing your list after being quiet for a while. People will just forget you. Quickly. You have to be very explicit to help them remember.

I use it occasionally to extract values out of larger data structures. This one is a good example. Pattern matching makes it pretty succinct.

“Man, I spent a day on this. I guess I’ll have to spend even more…” This sentence was @uibreakfast.com's reaction to my critique of a new component for our website. I didn’t like it.

I finally figured out what caused this 🥳 We have a test helper to temporarily change translations. It was implemented by switching the I18n backend and resetting it afterwards. Turns out the backend is cached somewhere internally, so it was leaking outside of the tests that used it.

You can now send webhooks straight from a Userlist workflow 🎉 We've just released a new node type that let's you trigger third-party services, run backend logic on your servers, send a message to Slack, … and tons of other stuff 💪 Looking forward to see what you all are going to build with it 👀

Often overlooked feature of @userlist.com's Push API: Nested Resources 🔥 Instead of specifying a user/company identifier in an event or relationship, you can pass in a full object with properties or even more nested objects 🌀 Bonus: Everything gets processed within a transaction, so it's atomic ⚛️

Trying to wrap my head around why an upgrade to Rubocop and JSON broke our Liquid pluralization filter 🤔 It just doesn't make any sense to me. It's not a fluke, I can reproduce the issue on multiple runs and hosts 😵‍💫

When you go to a metal concert and the multi purpose venue is configured with more significantly more seating than standing zones… it’s a sign, isn’t it? 🙈

Managed to (finally) sell my old drum-kit 🎉 And obviously I did the most reasonable and not at all unnecessary thing next: Upgraded the new kit 🤩 Got a new cymbal pad and two boom arms to mount it (and one other cymbal pad I already had) 🔨 Absolutely love it 😍

This week's small improvement to @userlist.com: Number, date, and boolean fields They not only render differently in the form itself, but also ensure proper type conversion when storing it in our system.

If only this would magically fix everything 😅

Having the (tiny) community and the implied accountability of a fixed call on my calendar made all the difference. A few weeks ago, I upgraded my kit to this one, and I absolutely love it 😍

When I moved out, I stopped for almost a decade. Not enough space in my apartment and the neighbors wouldn’t have approved anyways. Eventually, I discovered that electric kits had evolved quite a bit and couldn’t resist. I started jamming occasionally again, but it didn’t stick.

As a kid, I used to bang on my parent’s cookware. When I turned six, they had mercy and sent me to drum lessons. I was excited, but eventually lost interest after just a few years. I’d occasionally jam on my second-hand acoustic kit, but didn’t make any progress.
