People routinely misunderstand Judge Dredd but this is an all-time standout: a LinkedIn post saying the lesson we need to learn from it is about human-in-the-loop AI use. That torment nexus tweet wasn’t satire at all.

I read that one of the leading uses of LLMs is as a “work buddy”. I couldn’t imagine this so asked Chat what that would actually look like. We ended up here, which is about as bleak a cognitive vision as I can imagine.

Leiden Declaration on Artificial Intelligence and Mathematics leidendeclaration.ai Interesting to see how issues related to AI use are playing out in recognisable but distinct ways in different fields. This is laudably well-written, I thought.

Text Shot: These characteristics of mathematics as a subject matter are also compatible with understanding mathematics as a human practice, and its place in the world. As mathematicians, and also as inhabitants of a shared world, we have a duty to care for other people and our environment.
