Pretty much this. People think it's interesting that I get up most days at about 4:30 am but what they don't know is my cats - especially Ms Pennywise, my black longhair - they DEMAND that I get up that early so I can begin dispensing treats to them. They are, nonetheless, awesome kitties.

Please do not blame Houston for this problem. Harris County Texas voted 51-46 for Kamala Harris in 2024. The city in particular voted blue (see map).

That's a great album but my all time favorite Nina Simone live album is "It Is Finished" (1974). It features Beatles like exotic instrumentation and dynamic percussion, and opens with a really visceral take on the "The Pusher," taking it way beyond Steppenwolf's version to a whole different level.

Happy #Caturday to all who celebrate! Our cat Finneus likes to lay on Mama Turpin's shoulder any time she is in a horizontal position, even if he has to hang on like a rock climber to do it. It's all fun and giggles... that is until he digs his claws into her to keep from slipping.

Some Japanese folks also enjoyed the rolls at Texas Roadhouse (steakhouse chain) the other day. There's better steaks to be had elsewhere, but without a doubt their rolls really are super delish.

Happy #Caturday to all who celebrate! This is Ms Pennywise, one of our two cats. She celebrates Caturday by getting on the kitchen counter despite being admonished for doing so! Since she can't give me the middle finger she applies her airplane ears instead. Despite such nonconformity, we love her.

40 years of sobriety here. I kept it simple: didn't drink, didn't depend on any substances to make me feel good or find spiritual enlightenment. It worked. I'm agnostic btw, when I learned not to depend on outside things to enlighten me I found enlightenment... through kind people.

I have loved Isle of Skye so much that I even made a shirt about it. I hope to visit it in person this summer or next, alongside Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Highlands. And the Isle of Barra, whose airport literally uses a beach as its runway, if I can catch a flight to do it.
