I'm peeking at some World Cup games here and there, and I just caught a look at Norway's uniforms. The runic typeface is🔥
Help, #PlantSky! Is this thrips damage? I see very tiny insects but they're too small for me to be sure of the details. I've attached the best photo I could get of one or two of them. Thank you so much for any assistance 🙏 #PestId #PlantPests
Started on Abell 21 (Medusa Nebula) last night. It's just 30 min exposure! (80mm doublet refractor, asi585mc-air, HEQ5 mount, SVBony 7nm NB filter, taken in Bortle 4 about 50min from home before moonrise.) Image quality is compressed do lmk if you want to see a better version. #astrophotography
I can see them but it's harder to photograph them at this focal length. I have a different one here at a much longer focal length where you can see three of the four Galilean moons.
I got the Great Red Spot this time! Taken with my little 80mm at 770mm focal length with the ASI585MC Air. Processed in Astrosurface and Set Astro Suite Pro. #Jupiter #PlanetaryPhotohraphy #astrophotography
I'm so sad the #JamieDing run on Jeopardy is over. What a class act that guy is! (I have a silly parasocial fondness for him, like he seriously seems like a wonderful human being. Plus he likes astronomy!) He will be back though, with 31 wins under his belt.
Behold: the mushrooms I grew (black pearl/black oyster). They're from a Grow Mushrooms Canada kit. #mushrooms #fungi
For the love of all that's holy: please, someone make a dark chocolate caramel that does NOT have salt on it. Why must all dark chocolate and caramel things have salt on them? 😭 (If you know of something available in Canada let me know!)
This is the Rosette Nebula. It's about seven hours of combined exposure time. I'm very happy with it :) #astrophotography
The Venn diagram of Second Amendment fetishists and people saying he shouldn't have been carrying a firearm is a circle
Toronto Area/GTA telescope pals: I am selling a bunch of stuff. Take a peek if you're looking for anything: www.facebook.com/marketplace/... (Sorry it is on Facebook. That seems to be the place these days.)
One of them doesn't like the camera and the other one poses as cutely as possible #dogsOfBluesky
Now that i have Pixinsight, I redid my M 57 (Ring Nebula) which was the first thing I ever photographed with my astrocam. It's looking good! I'll have to try to do this one with my 8" SCT too when that's ready to go. #astrophotography
Everything is terrible. Have some space pictures to help for a moment.

Kids, this is why you don't use AI to do your work that would take you five minutes to do anyway.
My astronomy club is holding a year-end fundraiser if you feel like kicking in a few bucks. I know everything is terrible right now, so obviously zero pressure. I just thought I'd share in case. secure.rasc.ca/donate?lsid=...
I'm trialling top-flight #astrophotography tools and it shows! This is about the best thing I've ever done. Also a factor: 2.5 hours in a darker sky area. This is the Triangulum Galaxy, also known as Messier 33. (If you want to see the full resolution image, go here: app.astrobin.com/i/oek0ej)
I only have 20 min on this, but it is already nice. Flame Nebula (NGC 2024) on the left & Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33) on the right. Big star @ top is Alnitak, the left star in Orion's belt. For the interested: ASI585MC-AIR, #SVBony 80mm ED doublet refractor, HEQ5 mount, SV220 7nm #astrophotography
My smartphone #astrophotography presentation recording is up. The entire meeting is recorded, but mine starts at this link: youtu.be/7RJhz5C67hU?... The presentations before mine are from 4th yr students, and after is a young member of my #RASC chapter who had an adventurous summer of science!
Today I turn 50. I'm holding up ok I guess. This is the first birthday I've had any weird feelings, mortality-wise, but it's still pretty cool. You can't get rid of me that easily 😂
I haven't done smartphone astro in a bit because I got an astrocam recently. However, I'm doing a smartphone #astrophotography talk on Friday. Toronto area folks, join us! It's free/open to the public (w/ paid parking). Here's the info: mississauga.rasc.ca/event/potpou... Attached are my own images.
Here's another. The double star cluster in Perseus, known as Caldwell 14 or NGCs 869 and 884. #astrophotography #astronomy #starCluster
I will never understand Reddit. Who downvotes a request for bookkeeping recommendations? And yes, I looked at older posts to see if it had already been asked and answered. Fuckin' Reddit, man 🤣
Behold: Comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon. This is one of my favourite things I've worked on so far. #astrophotography #cometLemmon #comet
I'm in Mexico for work. Here's a picture of a lil rainbow in the clouds over the Gulf of Mexico.
Just realized I forgot to share this, NGC 2793, the Helix Nebula (a.k.a. Eye of God, for obvious reasons!) this is about 90 minutes of exposure time, and it looks great, though I want to do more to bring out the faint part at the lower right. Enjoy this beauty!
