Belle & Sebastian is one of @jchenwriter.bsky.social and my faves, so it was wonderful seeing them last night. Stuart Murdoch remains charming as ever, If You’re Feeling Sinister sounded amazing live, and it was nice to see every middle-aged couple with glasses in LA in the same room at once.
The movie scene I think of every time I hear a CEO talk about how brutal layoffs are: “You can make it less brutal by knocking a million or so off your salary.”

No musician gives me catharsis like Jeff Rosenstock. Fantastic 2 hour + “practice” show at The Lodge Room, the kind of show where a man dressed as a wizard ruled the pit and the crowd cheered for trans rights. Jefff and his band, the expertly named Death Rosenstock, continue to fuel me.

Fortunate to see the Oi! punk veterans Cock Sparrer at their final L.A. show ever. May we all be as cool as them at any age. Plus, one of my all-time faves Dillinger Four opened for them, making this their first L.A. show since I don’t know when.
The Daily Show fun fact: the only reason I know the play Love Letters is because @chrisregan.bsky.social used it as a punchline in his joke packets approximately once a month. He might’ve even pitched this exact upcoming production.
Watched the 2025 Deathstalker tonight and it delivered what I wanted (sword vs monsters) and more (a climactic skeletons kicking each other in the groin fight). You know if this is your kind of movie, too. Way to go again, Steve Kostanski!
Tomorrow, Sat. 11/8, a murderer’s row of talented comic book creators will be signing at REVENGE OF COMIC BOOK BLOCK PARTY! I’ll be there 1-2pm, but folks will be signing ALL DAY! Comics! Pinball! Live interviews! It’s gonna be a blast. Way better than your other plans (sorry, your other plans).
