#photography #nature #birds #bluemountains Meet, Sam. He loves eating curl grubs in our lawn. 🙏❤️
#snow #bluemountains Could we finally see snow on the ground in Blackheath, after a record four year absence? It's a maybe, at this stage. Far from likely - but possible on the weekend, or early next week. I'll update the details to the group. www.blackheathweather.com/ourweatherco...
One day, I just want Tom to walk straight through the graphic. 🙃✌️
El Nino isn't a weather forecast. El Nino is a different experience in Broken Hill compared to Blackheath. El Nino is influenced by other climate drivers. Describing El Nino by short definitions is like asking an author to describe their novel in ten words. blackheathweather.com/ourweatherco...
#photography #sunrises #winter #elnino One of the most beautiful winter sunrises, I have ever seen, in sixty years of getting up early. We've also got an incredibly fascinating El Nino in front of us. Some rare and unusual components this time, around.
#bluemountains Amazing. Fish are feeding in my pond in mid June, in Blackheath. At nearly 1100M above sea level, this is only the second time I've experienced this in 29 years. Pond is still 11C. Normally 5C, by now. Also happened in June 2005 but it got much colder by late June 2005 with snow.
An impromptu memorial service for Caroline Collits today at Mt Vic - near where she was murdered in 1842. Local lore says her ghost is often seen, near the GWH. They buried her at Hartley in an unmarked grave, not even with her family. So sad & so very wrong. RIP dear Caroline. We remember you.🙏❤️
#nature #bluemountains Sitting here in the silence, next to the fire, reading a book. All I can hear is froglets, marsh frogs and a tawny frog mouth. Bliss. 🙏❤️
#gardening #ponds #fish OMG. I'm so excited. I spotted six (of twelve) of my Southern Pygmy Perch in the frog pond - released in early March. These gorgeous little native fish have been effectively extirpated from NSW from over-development. Hoping to breed them. Now, to get them through winter...
#gardening We love Gardening Australia (ABC TV, Australia) but it has changed. A lot of very fancy gardens now - perhaps less of the everyday suburban or regional gardens. Don't forget the little gardens, the tiny plots. 🙏🍁
Autumn is slowly fading now. What will winter bring? A snowfall or three? Currently in our longest stretch without a significant snowfall in Blackheath (more than a dusting) since the 1800s. Last significant event was 24/8/22. Fingers crossed for snow. www.blackheathweather.com/ourweatherco...
Aaaah. Rain. Has been a while. This street is lesser known - so the leaves are all still in place. A beautiful carpet. After the rain, maybe a little snow, for some. Blackheath is in it's longest stretch without a settled snowfall, since the 1800s.🍁❄️ blackheathweather.com/ourweatherco...
#autumn Wentworth Street, Blackheath. On fire with autumn colour. Plus, the old Angus & Robertson home with a famous association with Henry Lawson - looks pretty today. Rain and wind, coming. Maybe snow, for some. Autumn colours will fade soon. www.blackheathweather.com/ourweatherco...
#photography #drones Police were going hard at a drone operator, today, in Wentworth Street, Blackheath. Thousands of dollars in fines were being indicated in the conversation. It's a good reminder to know the drone and photography regulations. It's all available online. There's no excuse. 🙏🍁
#autumn #photography #bluemountains Some gorgeous autumn colours in Blackheath, Sunday. Reaching peak colour now. Whilst the prevailing weather has been great for autumn colour, we do need rain. There are indications of some rainfall, eventually. 🙏🍁 www.blackheathweather.com/ourweatherco...
#photography Mindfulness is a holiday from thinking. A caress for the heart and mind. Mindfulness today, in the shadows, with early morning light. Kissed by silence, as leaves fall. My mind calls, to rest. Blessed - by this. Meet me here. In the stillness. Just, being here. That is all. ❤️
#autumn #photography Oh, autumn is smiling today. Her warmth blesses us. Her colours caress, thus. With golden friendship. That's her duty. A natural beauty. It's autumn. A change is coming. On the back of this sunning. Where wind will blow and all will know, that winter is not far away. 🙏🍁
#autumn #bluemountains #photography Clanwilliam Street, Blackheath, firing today. Just phone photos. Returned with my proper camera but thirty tourists arrived, so will come back another day. No complaints from me. Until 1997, I was a tourist to this area too. We need tourists for our economy. 🙏
#mindfulness #bush #gardening A morning in the bush and the garden. When I mindfully quieten my mind, I see so much. No thoughts, just experiences. 🙏
#records Wow! Looks like a number of sites broke March records, for coldest ever March day (maximum). That's quite rare these days, compared to heat records. Mt Boyce AWS and Katoomba broke records - to be confirmed. And possibly others. What an event... blackheathweather.com/ourweatherco...
Snow? In March? Well, it's a slight to moderate chance later this week, across the Oberon Plateau, especially above 1200M. Maybe some Oberon gardens will have a pretty coating of snow on autumn colour. ❤️❄️☀️🙏✌️ Here's my garden today. www.blackheathweather.com/ourweatherco...
Is this really a major ABC News story? It's been a fairly regular feature of late. 🤔
#autumn #gardening Where's the showers and storms? Most activity is sitting just a bit to our north east and east, for now. Here's a bit of autumn colour for you. The local gardens are going off today, with so much sunshine about this afternoon. www.blackheathweather.com/ourweatherco...
#birthdays Happy Birthday to the most gorgeous Blackheathen. 96! What a special woman. We are all looking forward to your 100th. We love you, JT. We'll try & bring you some snow this year. You were in your mid 30s for this epic one. I was about to be born. www.blackheathweather.com/ourweatherco...
#gardening #photography From our garden, this afternoon. Perhaps my favourite rose.
#bluemountains The closure of the GWH just NW of Mt Victoria is awful for businesses and locals, hope it's resolved ASAP. 🙏 What isn't awful but very beautiful indeed, is the incredible quiet in Blackheath. You could hear a bee sigh. It's never this quiet, except during a heavy snowfall. ❤️
