We have rocks! We don’t know what all of them are yet but we’ll look them up when they finish tumbling. And now the kid wants to go find rocks of her own so we’re researching where to go on rock walks.

There’s a lot here to be annoyed about but this passage stood out to me. The use of autism as an excuse for boundary-crossing behaviour is pervasive but I have always said that someone who is autistic but not an asshole will be mortified when they learn they’ve overstepped and will change behaviour.

In fact, he said, his own research showed that autistic people tend to differ in cognitive empathy (interpreting facial expressions and language) but not affective empathy (the internal response to others' feelings). "Once they know that someone is upset, it upsets them and they want to do something about it," he said. "There's a kind of myth that autistic people lack empathy."

At first glance Tidal music’s new AI policy seems pretty decent but it also seems to be very specific about targeting only 100% AI-generated music. So all a person would need to do is record themselves farting and put it in at the end of each song to get around it?

• Tidal will not allow music that is 100% Al-generated to be monetized. No royalties will go to such releases, nor will Al-generated uploads be eligible for direct-to-fan sales.
• We will expand these policies to music that is substantially Al-generated when Al detection technology is sufficiently reliable to do so.

Accidental-bonsai raspberry update: preschooler reports “best raspberry ever”. I’ll have to take her word for now. So we’ll be looking forward to when this plant settles in and starts giving us more berries. Next up looks to be the wonky “fall gold” raspberries from the quoted post. 🌱

Here’s a pretty clear example of the importance of pollinators! Those underdeveloped berries didn’t get fully pollinated. They’re closer to ripe than the others because they’re from the plant’s first blossoms of the season. When ripe they’ll be fine to eat, just ugly. 🌱 🐝

This raspberry transplant had a rough time compared to the other 2 but it looks like it’s going to bounce back and even give us a couple berries this season. Planted 3 types: purple, red, yellow. I picked this Tulameen for the red one because I like camping at the provincial park at Tulameen 🌱

I did not keep my flower tags because I lack foresight and do not learn from past mistakes, but I am pretty sure this is a double petunia. At this moment it is my favourite flower in the whole wide world. Look at these lil guys just givin’er! 🌱

It was not the point of this post but I had never heard of broccoli on pizza until reading it and it’s been on my mind ever since. So today I made some garlic confit and gave it a try at home. Broccoli is amazing on pizza and I wish I had put more on. Thank you @kendrawrites.com

Today’s bread looks a bit silly but it will taste just fine under some eggs and potatoes. I forgot to pull the dough from the fridge when I got up so we’re having breakfast for lunch today. 🥖 #bread

Today’s QUESTION OF THE DAY is a video game one. What four classic video games to you find yourself replaying no matter how old they are? These are mine:

Game: Katamari Damacy. Illustration of several characters. Weird colourful little guys with sideways cylinder heads.

Game: Earthbound. Box cover featuring the game title superimposed over a liquid gold humanoid with shoulder spikes and tentacly “hands” on hips.

Game: Final Fantasy 8, which released at just the right time in my childhood to imprint as “my” Final Fantasy. He has Big Feelings and doesn’t know how to express them, and he has a sword that’s also a gun.

Bit of holiday baking today to distribute tomorrow. Chocolate amaretti. Pretty straightforward to make and naturally gluten and dairy free. A cookie scoop helped keep the size uniform but I think if I had a slightly smaller one I’d use that next time. #baking #cookies #bakingsky

Made miso-maple Brussels sprouts and chicken for supper. Recipe originally from NYT but barely needed - 1:1:1 syrup, miso, olive oil, some cumin, baked very hot until charred. Adults: enjoyed it. Toddler: “mommy, you didn’t cook these Brussels sprouts very good.” #food #dinner 🍽️

Man, Clifford and the Grouchy Neighbors does the neighbours dirty. Sleep deprivation, property damage, food tampering, and we’re supposed to think they’re just not giving poor old Clifford a fair shake because dogs will be dogs?

Black cocoa crinkle #cookies are the order of the day. The black cocoa gives the chocolate an Oreo-like flavour. I do wish my 3rd trimester nesting urge leaned more toward cleaning, but #baking is nice too.

Low-effort, high-reward #cookie #baking is my favourite kind. These are in the shortbread family and use sweetened condensed milk; I happily get to use the small remainder of the can for my coffee for the next couple of days. A cookie scoop gets the nice surface texture.

I thought maybe it was to use the same label in the Canadian market which requires French as well as English but nope, Canada gets an entirely different label. And yet still with a weird amount of white space
