I'm an animal rescuer domestic & wild life have a dog that is smarter than 45 Army Veteran . My friends call me the bird whisperer have hand fed many baby birds. NO DM's Only have rescues as my pets Adopt Don't Shop. Best friend is my dog.
Just gave Patch a bath he doesn't mind a bath at all he just stands or sits there and allows me to bathe him. I fill the kiddie pool I bought for him that he never used🤣 I get a plastic 2 quart container to rinse him. Takes 2 big used towels to dry him all the way
The baby Starling hasn't attempted to return guess it must be enjoying the freedom to fly. Ungrateful little brat🤣🤣🤣 Just kidding I have my hands full with Marvin absolutely don't need another wild bird
Will be releasing baby starling tomorrow. It's flying around in the cage will give it a few extra mealworms in the morning. But eating seeds mealworms and even drinking. Will fill the birdbath and the feeder. I hope it sticks around but know darn well I won't recognize it But another one saved
This is a better pic of the baby eating the mealworms. The baby is utilizing all of the perches now since I raised all of them he hops from perch to perch
Baby Starling is eating on his own now he loves those meal worms. Will have to see if it drinks soon but it's a smart baby. Even took a short flight this morning when I put it on top of the cage. You can see the top of his head still has fluff so not quite ready yet
🤣The baby can see the mealworms in the plastic container. He has his mouth open expecting me to feed them to him. He was all the way up on the perch by the water dish today not sure if he drank wasn't in the room just caught him on the perch. We shall see if he can figure it out🤣
Sometimes when there is new baby in my care. I feel guilty that I am not paying as much attention to Marvin as I should so I will put my fingers in his cage and pet him on his chest or touch his beak to say Hi.😊
I let the baby sit on top of the cage while I cleaned the inside. Baby birds are messy as all get out they eat and poop just like a real baby🤣
Look who crawled up on a perch all by himself. Now mind you it's really low in the cage but so proud of the baby. Will raise it by a few inches tomorrow😊👍
The baby is perching and can get to water now any time he chooses. Will eventually add a seed dish once I see him drinking water.
Good morning Gisele yes I do I found a Bay Starling that already had it's eyes open but no where near able to fly. With it's eyes open it has distrust in humans. Had to force feed it but soon learned to trust me and doing great now
I am going to call the baby starling Baby Huey he is one big little bird and has an endless appetite🤣🤣
This was Messy Marvin when I 1st found him I didn't think he had a chance in the world of surviving That was 5 years ago and he's still with me. Marvin refused to fly away . He was the only 1 of many releases to stay and hopefully the last one
This is what greeted me this morning from the baby Starlings Cage. It's a face only a mother can love so to speak🤣🤣 you can see Starlings are all legs at this age
As most of you know I raise my own mealworms since Marvin decided to move in with me. I have gotten quite good at it. I have all sizes pf meal worms and any given time. Just got too expensive buying them. Was a lot of trial an error at 1st, But now able to feed the wild birds that come to my feeders
As you can see the baby Starling has a lot of fluff mixed in with it's feathers. I waited until Marvin turned all grey to release him. But it has a wonderful appetite and eats like a little piggy.
It didn't take long for the baby Starling to figure out to associate me in the room with feeding time. I have such high hopes for this little one to soar the skies too. From a fall in my shed to being in a safe cage and being fed you can't beat that🤣🤣🤣
I am guessing this is the sibling of this baby Starling. With how fast they develop . This baby didn't make it so I am more determined to help its sibling. I have come to the conclusion that Starlings don't make good parents
The baby Starling is still alive and got 4 medium sized Mealworms in him so should be good to go for awhile. The problem is that they fear humans at this age. So it will be a difficult road for the both of us. He is ALMOST ready to fly but wings are not developed enough for flight yet. We shall see
Found another Marvin baby in my shed fell almost exactly where I found the other baby. I haven't covered that area I just don't have any more sheets or towels to cover the entire shed. This baby is nearly a fledgling but wings aren't quite developed enough yet. Wish me luck with this one🤞🤞
I went ahead and released the baby bird this afternoon it's a beautiful day at 72 today. It flew right away I fed it many mealworms and made sure it got a last drink tomorrow who know what the weather will be like. I miss everyone of the babies but they are meant to fly free
The baby is not only eating seeds now but drinking also. Even took a light bath I didn't want to fill the water dish too high afraid of drowning it. But you can see the wetness on it's chest. So Tomorrow I will release the baby right after I fill the bird bath and the feeder. They grow so fast!!😊
Ever since putting the baby in the flight cage it's a lot happier now it can see everything. Flying from one perch to the next. Even added a little seed and water. Needs to strengthen those wings gain confidence it can fly. The baby looks so tiny in that big cage🤣🤣 but it's a happy little bird😊
The baby is eating the mealworms from the bottom of it's cage. I have to cut them in 1/2 or they scurry away to fast for it the baby to catch🤣🤣. Has only eaten so far from my hands or dish this will make it easier for me to not have to hand feed. Don't want to assosciate a human with food too much.
Look at the baby bird using a perch that I put in his cage. I'm a very proud mom right now. The perch is all natural just a tree perch.
The baby is almost fully feathered and testing it's wings Will soon be able to be released in about 10 days Will put mealworms and a few flies on the bottom of his cage soon to make sure it knows how to survive on it's own
Good morning friends a little cooler today only 81 it was 88 yesterday. Patch prefers the cooler weather. It's Marvins Birthday today he's 5 years old hard to believe it's been 5 years already. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARVIN!!! Coffees On☕☕
A couple of pics of the baby It has chest feathers now and It's wings are developing even has a tail. Will be able to release it in a few weeks. No matter how often I do this it amazes me how fast they grow No need for the heating pad with all the chest feathers. VERY GOOD EATER
Babies eyes are open a lousy pic sorry will take more better pics later. It has almost doubled in size. Amazing what love and a lot of good food will do. But they do grow very fast. I will release it at 21 days they say at day 17 but will take a few extra days to be sure Getting more feathers😊🧡
