Received this from my senator, in response to my contacting his office to object to the reconciliation bill. Genuinely bewildered about whether or how to respond. This is beyond "not listening to the voters" (which I'm used to); this is more like "inhabiting a different reality from the voters."

The text (from an email) includes the following:
Thank you for contacting us about the Republican reconciliation bill that will usher in a golden era of prosperity and security.
We are thrilled that this bill includes the largest tax cuts and federal spending reductions in American history!
Our focus is on supporting hard-working, middle-income Americans, along with small businesses, to help everyone thrive.
By giving seniors on fixed incomes a much-needed tax break and eliminating taxes on tips, overtime, interest on loans for new American-made cars, and other key provisions, many Kansans, especially middle-income families, could see savings add up to nearly a thousand dollars a month.
For small businesses, we have made the business tax cuts permanent, including bonus depreciation, interest expense deductions, and R&D credits. And for our farmers and ranchers back home, we have essentially passed key farm bill provisions, improving crop insurance, updating reference prices, and addressing pass-through tax issues like Section 199A. Additionally, we permanently increased the death tax exemption limits, not only to help families pass down a lifetime of hard work but also to provide clarity and peace of mind during some of life’s most difficult moments.
For families, without this bill, the child tax credit would have dropped to $1,000 per child, but it’s now expanded to $2,200. We have also permanently expanded the Employer Child Care Credit, added more flexibility for using 529 education savings plans, and enhanced Pell grants to make education more accessible.
On the security front, this bill, now signed into law, funds the completion of border detection technology and barriers to help curb illegal immigration. It also provides four years of funding for additional Border Patrol officers, ICE removal agents, and detention beds.
