My gal (just adopted 6 months ago after nearly 5 years cat-less) has opinions about lacking lap space lol
I really enjoyed this book, so reposting w/alt text. (Basic: The image is the book cover and the words STAFF PICKS in the bottom left corner. Above is a quote from the intern. See alt text for details.)
Halfway through Memorial Days by Brooks and not entirely sure what I think. Visceral, honest... but I'm most drawn to the poignant reality of their lives together as authors. #grief
Share a photo you took of a signpost you like. (Full disclosure, my sister took the photo.)
"Your last saved celebrity pic on your phone is your therapist. " I hope celebrity book covers count - I feel like sessions would at least be hilarious.
(Mine is a couch where the cat likes to join me on my lap - even if she's too long when she stretches.
My sister found a photo of us - I forgot my mom made one for the cat as well!
The only gadget I remember "needing" after starting dorm life (for those tasty late night Ramen noodles 🍜 )
Father's Day is still hard, so last night we sat out on my sister's porch and went through a bunch of his old business cards I had found. It was good to share memories of how Dad provided for us (took some jobs out of state & commuted home on weekends so we could stay in our home/high school) #grief
Reminded me I have this on my bookshelves, but completely out of date now (published 1987, purchased in early 1990s).
Someone once gave me a pair of these ramekins and they have only ever been used by a cat 😆
There have been many adjustments & things to learn moving from suburbia (IL) to the foothills of western NC, but having a neighbor text photos of a bear & say "heading your way" is a first. (I didn't see it and I'm okay with that lol.)
One of the reasons I still own a DVD player - never want to be denied a rewatch (see also: A Knight's Tale and Sneakers)
THIS (I added the all caps to what I felt is the crucial sentence in the alt text)
I've never had such an eager lap cat! (I'm trapped under her inside as I type this, but not as nice a photo).
Someone is highly annoyed the weather turned cold again, and thus her birdwatching window has not been opened.
I volunteered at a cat rescue today (helping socialize ferals) and met the largest cat I've ever seen! The upshot is that apparently he is a good blood donor for the vet. He was shy about being petted but got comfortable in my orbit as I just sat and talked to him.
After centuries of being stuck in one place, the statue decided the pain of wrenching itself off the stone it was carved on was worth the freedom to walk off and sample views elsewhere. (Or so I've always believed.) #BlueSkyArtShow #Stone
Was instantly drawn to the cover of This Book Made Me Think of You by Libby Page, and the story clinched it. A woman receives an unexpected call 5 months after the death of the man she loved. He's left a book, and a letter, for her to read at the local bookstore, one each month for the next year.
Recently read The Grieving Brain by O'Connor. Imperfect* but often revelatory ("The brain is utterly disoriented by the fact a loved one no longer exists"), providing some relief ("Grief requires neural rewiring... which in turn requires time") & validation (grief is very mentally demanding).
