for my birthday today, i did something i've wanted to do since i was little; go whale watching it was amazing being on the water, on a very fast boat, seeing incredible scenery, and these giants just kinda hanging out, being big <3

it's thankfully not every shot, but satellites in the frame is annoyingly common 9 times of 10 it's a starlink, because of course it is the stacking software can filter them out, mostly, but i still usually have to go through and clean up leftover ghosts

NINA software imaging window where i'm taking 180 second snapshots of NGC 6914. The guider is running with minor deviations, and the image window shows the nebula. crossing in a V-shape are trails from two satellites. the one on the right is strong, while the one on the left is very dim.

i hadn't really thought about it until now, but venus flytraps sure do look like weird eyeball-less eyes

partially closed venus flytrap trap, the shadows from the "eyelashes" of the trap make it look like there's some sort of strange caterpillar inside.

Another trap of the venus variety, this time fully open. the trigger hairs look like spikes on a field of red leather
