Introducing Cú. She's been rescued from a hard start: bred from, underfed, and now safe. She's getting spayed, vaccinated, and chipped. It'll be a few weeks before she joins us. She & Lol met and became friends today. My next chapter opens. Those fierce eyes.😍 Thanks Limerick Animal Welfare.
Heatwave memories: grabbing an HB wafer sandwich by the slice, then chasing Golly Bar, Loop the Loop, Choc Ice, Iceberger, Super Split, Feast, Zoom and Cornetto. Cold sticks, hot sun — the real 70s summer crew. The Super Split was my favourite.
Memoir honesty is measured by texture, not by declarations. And her marriage is the least textured part of the book. I admired her telling of her journey, but she falls short in opening up her relationship. Her voice is clear and direct, which made the silence on this part of her life disappointing.
It's that type of road in the west of Ireland. The sign is a first for me.
A Connemara sunset. I've come here to escape our expected, though brief, heatwave.
Awesome news. There's a fierce generation on the way, and the world is waiting.
Just finished Ardern’s A Different Kind of Power. It’s a calm, grounded account of leading through crisis without losing sight of humanity. Whatever your politics, the commitment to kindness as a governing principle is compelling.
The wild Atlantic. It has a pull, hasn't it, a draw you've to turn away from.
Not at all surprised that Nobody’s Girl by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, co-written by Amy Wallace, won Book of the Year. It's a searing insight into how wealth, the boys' club and law collide . . . I mean collude.
Three years old this month. This book has taken me on a great journey - not least for all the supportive people I met along the way.💓
As soon as I received an acceptance from HOWL 26, the skies cleared and here comes the sun - honoured to be part of this. @howlwriting.bsky.social
1,500-year-old bog oak and brand-new cygnets at Lough Boora today.
Today's hike was on the Slieve Bloom Way. Spent some time in the company of this 200-year-old beech.
