Waiting on plot for my next issue. So figured I’d get some Patreon pieces done while I wait. Have a big ass commission to do as well, 4 boards so I’ll be keeping busy.
Never drawn the gray Hull before that I can remember… for some reason I felt the need today. Can’t replicate Todd’s proportions though.
Guess this is out. It’s a retailer exclusive for Absolute Batman 22. Inks by Sandra Hope Hope and colors by @adalhouse.bsky.social
It depends what the arm is doing. I start with roughs like this then refine it.
Ok so the first issue is main focus. What’s the big shot for the page if any. DD should get that unless it’s a main bad guy. Play with the panels a bit. It’s not the 50’s, they can overlap. That big down shot on page 2 while fine, a large waste of real estate.
This anatomy needs work. His eyes are too close together his hands and feet are way too small. His costume is missing most of his straps and spikes. His cape needs the most work, you can’t tell it’s a cape. It’s undefined. Practice figure drawing, you need to learn the proportions. 1/2
For a Todd pose you REALLY need to push the forced perspective. So the foot coming at you needs to be much larger.
This is how I lay out a leg. After this I’d go back and refine it before the final line work.
Base line work has started! Trying to get back into the swing after a break is always difficult. Already see something I need to fix
