Oh yeah: fourteen years ago today, at my first convention as an artist, I met this girl.
The face I made when I saw I gained a bunch of followers on Instagram this week:
I won't share the video proof here, but: Ashley's mom found an old Nintendo Power Pad all wadded up and filthy and brought it to us. I cleaned it up, got a copy of World Class Track Meet from a local shop, cleaned THAT up, and yep, it works. My legs hurt now.
I hate to gamble, but I took a chance on the blind bag finger puppets and got my favorite dumb bug kaiju today.
Blokees Eva-01 is coming together quite nicely! This is roughly two hours of work, with the head making up the first hour.
oh you know, just contemplating the debris field as usual. gotta do something to pass the time, right?
After buying some more, I've realized why I enjoy the GodziBurst line: the stylized colors and accessories remind me so much of the Trendmasters toys!
Also, I found a fucking Godzilla 1998 Koosh. Look at that face! HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA
FWIW, here's my personal ranking of the Jackass movies and specials I've seen. I still haven't mustered the courage to watch the Oscar nominated Bad Grandpa yet.
Storms hit when we still had about three hours to go. Everything. Is. Wet. But I still made good money before things went south.
Excited to announce that next month, July 31st, I'll be hosting a Twin Peaks themed figure drawing session at Elderbrew. Drink full and descend with us!
Driving out to the lake every day this week to check in on and hang out with a family friend's cat out at the end of the lake. What a hardship.
I think I did alright though. Dude next to me kept watching me sketch each act and was in awe. His partner was one of the performers and he asked for a picture of my semi-abstract doodles of her act.
One of the vendors in friends with gave me a fucking Godzilla 1998 towel. It's already a good day!!
The Astrobiologist opening reception was wonderful, despite my complete lack of energy and inability to pose like a normal person. Tomorrow is the Saucers Over Appalachia Festival! I will not be wearing this dress out in the heat, don't worry.
What does Bigfoot see when you see Bigfoot in the dark of the night? This illustration was made for my great friend Aaron Deese's upcoming book the Sasquatch Variable and is also available as a print that you'll be able to find at this weekend's Saucers Over Appalachia Festival!
The Examination. A new painting done for the Astrobiologist group exhibition at HollerHouse, opening THIS Friday evening in collaboration with the Saucers Over Appalachia Festival! Really pleased with how this one came out.
Hello from Mr. K's Con! Please come buy some art to help me with my terrible medical debt. Attendance is free!
One fun thing: they gave me a CD with the scans on it. But my laptop nor my new PC have disc drives! Luckily, the public library had one to check out. Wife put it on hold and I picked it up. Very neat to look at, despite struggling to tell WHAT I'm looking at.
If you want to get REALLY snobby, there's also Andrei Tarkovsky's poetic cinema, a personal favorite:
Between work rewards and credit card rewards, I was able to get a Godziburst 4-pack for ten bucks and I think I'm in love with these little guys. Especially the red and orange Hedorah with some translucency!
I have two nude paintings of dear friends going up in a local Pride show this month. Opening reception is this Saturday at Atelier 133.
Got waffles and a cookie butter latte at a local Hispanic owned cafe, then went to the park. I told the trees about you.
