AU in which you're a wayward center whose coach has sent you to army boot camp to learn some discipline, and I happen to be running it
Here's the full list of events for the @aadl.org's Big Gay Read this year. Join me on July 15 to talk about how Big Data and AI are changing Hollywood and queer stories. And catch @chucktingle.bsky.social himself this weekend.
Since some of you at #SCMS26 have asked, no, Scrappy Jack isn’t here. He thought the conference was too cat-forward last year, so he’s at home with his bestie having old man races around the kitchen island.
AI companies are embarrassingly bad at suggesting uses for their own products. This was in an OpenAI promo email I got. if your prompt contains the thing you’d just write, you don’t need AI to write for you. Good grief.
I'm conducting a research study to learn more about video game players' attitudes toward generative AI. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes of your time. tinyurl.com/videogameAIs... #gaming #videogames #videogame
After a long foray into AI’s impacts on higher ed and media industries, I’m getting back to my roots in fan studies.
I have cried my way through the final 12 minutes of White Christmas. Guess it‘s officially the holiday season now.

I don’t know how I’ve gone this long without seeing The Third Man, but I finally did and it’s so good! That final scene …
I’m not trying to brag, but today I had one of the best classes in 20 years.
Why do I have an entire folder called Slide Templates on my computer and spend hours making beautiful slides? Because this is what I get after SEVEN attempts to have Copilot generate slides with visual design based off my lecture notes.
When you're working on a presentation about the current state of copyright and AI...
When your approach to learning is straight from Andrew Sarris’s playbook, I guess cinema gonna cinema.

Who is making decisions about the messaging of the DNC’s donation asks? I don’t need a political mom guilting me into donating, thanks.
Michigan friends and #murdershewrote fans, join me at @schulerbooks.bsky.social in West Bloomfield on August 2 for a book signing!
Thank you to the Rochester Hills public library for having me speak about Murder, She Wrote and the cozy mystery last night, and extra special thank you to the many friends and colleagues who showed up. I was blown away by the turnout!
When this comes up in your feed only an hour after you gave a talk about Murder, She Wrote and grandma…..
At least this time all the comments called out this “technological salvation” for how stupid it is.
We already have this. It’s called Google docs or Word 365, but what extra gets me is that in the demo video the student just clicks “accept” on all the prof’s suggestions without reading them. Yes, yes, a superb model of education! I hate ed tech.
The Wheel of Time S3 finale is a dud of a story that’s not a finale and, bizarrely, features a Zoobilee Zoo character in stripper platform stilettos that’s totally out of sync with the rest of the production design. What happened here?
