In my expert medical opinion, the middle generation is about a quart low on blood. It's going to be funny if has organ failure in his 50s from screwing up his system with all the pills and injections and fluid transfers.
My grandpappy always told me "Boy, don't buy commodity futures on the Sunday night open (5p CT)."
On my way home from a bike ride, I saw an unusual banner in red, white and blue hanging from a balcony. Slowing down to take a look I saw this gem from 2017. #Patriot
Four days ago, oil market reconnaissance. "It's quiet, too quiet. I don't like it."
That's fair. P.S. It cracks me up that decades on, people are still doing that and posting how-to instructions on the internet.
Ohio is getting the shaft here: Dayton has a claim on airplanes, Cincinnati pork disassembly lines led to Ford's innovation, and Thomas Edison spent his first seven yrs in Milan, Ohio (OK, that one's a stretch). Interesting article/free link. www.wsj.com/us-news/mapp...
World Cup: I'd like to speak to the scheduling manager. I understand mid-afternoon games are best choice for European/N. Africa/Americas viewing (and a maximum productivity suck for the Americas), but why is Arg-Swiss game so late on Sat? Why not Sun afternoon?
In World Cup financial news, Adidas might be getting a bump based on more teams and Haaland and Cape Verde merch flying off the shelves, offset by disappointing demand for Neymar and Pulisic jerseys, which will soon be on the clearance rack at T.J. Maxx. (Nike and Puma were relegated long ago)
The spot Midwest nat gas price is higher than always-humid Houston, and close to the Louisiana Hub (LNG strength now year-round). That's a lot of corn sex > a lot of heavy breathing in the fields > a lot of A/C that needs to run in homes.
Round of 16 Sabremetrics report: Seven teams from the Americas started the round, only one is moving to the qtr finals. It's a good thing ARG woke up ~75 minutes in.
En noticias de los huevos, first HPAI incident in three months, affecting 1.2M birds in Utah. Not a big deal if it's isolated, but mid-summer is unusual.
If water bottles existed in 1978, Woody Hayes of Ohio State could have punched one instead of a Clemson player. #BetterLivingThroughChemistry
I'm a casual fan and didn't realize until recently that he chased the gold in Saudi Arabia at age 31. Is he now ineligible for Euro leagues or is it the case that they don't want him?
U.S. natural gas estimated inventory at Oct 31, 2026 ("official" heating season begins). Temps have been so high (summer A/C demand) but also there is so much gas production that prices are still bouncing around $3/million btu wholesale.
It is bizarre, including story and photo about wife travelling to China 72 hours after his medical event and hospital admission. Whatever the case, impressive information security from US and Chinese govts and all the medical staff. And such a demonstration of love from his money-grubbing wife. 🤢
Who apparently were so dumb they couldn't read road signs or a map. Otherwise, they might have known the nearest train station was ~300 miles away, pretty close to the Canadian border, and not just over the border in Wyoming.
Shakira, again, and shouldn't Madonna be in a rest home? If they can make up hydration breaks and add six minutes of rest & coaching to the game, they could have added a little to half time (and found better talent).
Oil: a couple of wks ago there were stories warning of BIG TROUBLE with regional crude transit if inventory at Cushing reached 20 million bbls. It reached 19M and prices still declined and availability is OK AFAIK. Question everything! We had been at that level a few times before.
Karl Rove has a broken clock moment (bar was quite low). Bonus for Salma Hayek ❤️ but a better choice in Hungarian-Americans would be Andrew Grove (Intel) rather than Thomas Petterfy (Interactive Brokers). The former contributed greatly to US tech strength. www.wsj.com/opinion/heri...
Recent crude oil and product prices: crude drops significantly, wholesale and retail remain sticky for a while. A tale as old as time. /EIA data for actual product (not futures contracts)
Interesting chart. $215M wagered so far if I add Kalshi and the right Polymarket site and who knows how much additional via other venues. Interest rates are still too low.
Oil (WTI futures) at $68/barrel and option volatility back to a long-term average of ~35% seems nuts given the flimsy ceasefire agreement and the untrustworthy parties, but here we are. P.S. Newbies to the $USO ETF are getting a lesson about changing term structure and ETF performance.
Very hot and humid in about half the US, but check out these electricity prices in Calif and the PNW v. Midwest and Mid-Atlantic: ~1.5 cts/kwh v. ~11 cts/kwh. (These are snapshot wholesale prices and the rate on your elec bill will likely be higher, esp. Calif.) #MidwestIsBest, but not today.
US refining has been a very good business since March. This is a profitability indicator. It assumes you buy crude and sell products the same day, no other inputs or outputs, no processing costs, etc. Ignoring all those b/c they don't fluctuate as much, it's ka-ching right now. /RBN Energy
.87 inch in Univ of Minn fields yesterday. Now it's sunny, hot and humid. Ah well, as a disgraced author once said "everyone in MN is above average" so they should have taken advantage of ~two months of strong prices.
