She cocked her head to the side and leveled him with a penetrating stare. He waited for her to speak, but she never did. He squirmed under her perusal. She was a nightmarish conversationalist.
“So, uh,” he started. “What are you looking for in a relationship?” What a weird thing to say. He was out of normal topics.
“Who said anything about a relationship?” she sneered.
“Um, you asked me out on a date earlier today. That’s why we’re here.”
“I didn’t ask you out on a date,” she shot back. “I told you that you were taking me out on a date.”
“That’s the same thing, Sage.”
“It is not.”
“It’s semantics. You really want to spend our first date, the one that you asked me out on, arguing about semantics?”
Her eyes flashed, and her nostrils flared. God, she was fun to tease. Allen wanted her to give him that look in bed sometime.
“Listen, Allen,” she spat. “Men are good for three things. You wanna know what they are?”
“I would love to know.”
She set down her wine glass and leaned forward. She counted off three fingers as she spoke. “Paying for my dinner, taking my car to get inspected, and eating my pussy.”
Allen’s stomach bottomed out. This girl was out of her tree. He loved it.
“In that order? Do I have to get your car inspected before I eat your pussy?”
She stared at him, obviously bewildered. “Yes.”

5 star review for The Queen: A Sapphic Cinderella Retelling by Brigid Finn: This is a retelling of Cinderella in a different universe called the queendom where homosexuality is not taboo. I liked how normalized homosexuality was and how some elements from the traditional Cinderella story were the same but with a few twists like an evil step father instead of stepmother, and how it is told in dual pov from Cinderella and the queen. Sex scenes were amazing and satisfying too.
