bikes birds (bluejays & búhos) bees trees and butterflies
this is what streets used to look like and we managed just fine. now we see it filled with ebikes and escooters and people think it's an apocalypse.
saying you worry about traffic safety and having someone bring up e-motos is like saying you care about birds and having someone bring up wind turbines. (a nice coincidence that vehicles are a leading cause of death in both instances).
the media views an ebike or escooter getting hit by a car as an equal danger to a car having to brake or swerve to avoid hitting an ebike or escooter. the framing makes clear vehicles should never have to share any space whatsoever and the most vulnerable road users are the danger.
if you have never experienced a pausa de hidratación in person, let me tell you, they are exhilarating
got to stop sharing these, but the comments are just so deranged and unhinged. i know facebook isn't a great representation, it's basically nextdoor at this point. but the number of injuries and deaths suffered and the car brain on display is pretty upsetting. just completely backwards.
tom nichols: *you* must do whatever it takes to defeat fascism, but *we*, well we may have no other choice than to become nazis.
name a TV show you're positive no one else remembers but you. greg kinnear as an antihero lawyer
i like this example where a bike lane just stops right as you get downtown and then feeds into a three lane one way road with on street parking
what can you even say? i see articles about regulating ebikes and e-motos all over the place, while car accidents are so common that they are essentially legal.
got to give the truck credit, it remained unscathed. fuck everything and everyone else, though.
had to look up all the pedestrians murdered by cars in crosswalks, and the last sentence is jaw dropping:
followed a google maps bike route. this is technically the bike route even though the bike lane ends and it feeds into three lanes of one way traffic with on street parking. this goes to downtown.
a more accurate headline would be: semi killed cyclist in downtown omaha. cyclists belong in downtowns, semis do not.
"i voted for harris specifically for this war!" a not terribly unreasonable position
