Devo predicted all of this
I'm running out of room for dub records. Might need to do another rock record purge.
Here's the band on this one. They had me at Earl "Chinna" Smith. All-Star line-up top to bottom.
Got this last week but got too high to remember to put it on Friday night and started listening to Brazilian stuff instead, resulting in a nice Monday treat. 10/10 record. Buy on sight.
Just chilling listening to an old Brazilian album that some Free Design fans would probably love, and maybe some Stereolab and Portishead fans too.
Still haven't found what i was looking for in my old twitter bookmarks and i'm not gonna lie, i miss the "pope hands" thing when you got a cool new record. In this case, the Clean box set.
Went into my twitter bookmarks looking for something else and found this along the way. All Dinosaur Jr fans should seek out this old article in Mojo. Classic.
Okay but who was the Johnny Cash of reggae? The Willie Nelson of reggae is obviously Toots. I'm going with Peter Tosh because of how goddamn fucking cool he looks in those Old Grey Whistle Test videos.
Listening to Jackie Mittoo and wondering if I still had any Johnny Cash records. Turns out I don't have a country section, but I do have this Johnny Cash record filed between Caribou and Cavern of Anti-Matter.
Happy Friday. Let's get higher than Jackie Mittoo's afro on the cover of Wishbone (1972)
I'm not big on 'greatest hits' albums, but i'm putting this on for the ~6th time. One of my best purchases from last year. 10/10 record. Buy on sight. There's also a Jonathan Richman trivia nugget in here too, which only adds to the overall experience.
The Butthole Surfers put out about 6 albums that had absolutely no track listings or any information at all on the back cover, which is still fucking hilarious. Putting Rembrandt Pussyhorse on the on deck shelf.
This stone cold killer arrived today but I'm saving it for Friday night when the vibes are better. Might do a Tappa Zukie Friday set.
Are you guys still talking about soccer? Can we wrap this shit up already and get back to posting pics of cool dub records again?
Thinking about starting a new "palate cleanser record" section. Might require another box. I'm ashamed to have not owned this until recently. It wasn't reissued for years and years, and old, beat to shit copies were going for 50-100 bucks. #nowplaying
I love going down extended musical rabbit holes i know nothing about, but once in a while you need a good old "palate cleanser record" to get a fresh start. This is one of my go-to's* *also Glenn Branca's Lesson #1 and The Replacements' Stink EP
Bonus liner notes coverage. Nicely done. Seems like a nice pressing so far.
How many Delroy Wilson 'best of' records do you really need? No idea. I'll let you know when i get there.
I feel like it's good to have a "Friday Night Records/New Arrivals" box right next to your turntable that holds 40-ish records. Anyway, Dr John is next.
Listening to this incredible thing again. It's been reissued in different forms over the years. The Skatalites going out in fucking massive style. 10/10 record. Buy on sight.
About to enter our humble little pool with a cold Moosehead and some classic Linval Thompson cranked. Summer is officially here.
Goddamn this is so good. Rising up the charts of my fave dub records.
It's hilarious that they just put somebody named C. Delaney in the song credits next to a bunch of Jackie's tunes just to get it past the CanCon watchdogs.
Might have to do a Canada Day thread of my fave Jackie Mittoo records recorded in Toronto.
Traded some rock stuff I don't listen to anymore in at my weird local used joint and walked out with these. All three appear to be VG+ (at least visually). Curious about the Derrick Harriott. It's a JA pressing but the blurb on the back says this LP was "available in the UK on Trojan Records."
Who up enjoying a dub record that was out-of-print for 47 years until now?
Happy 44th birthday to Stink. I feel like 'Kids Don't Follow' should be in the Hot 100 of the Great American Songbook somewhere.
brb just putting Expensive Shit on again. It's weird that 14-minute singles never caught on. I love 14-minute Fela singles.
