Bloom alert! 💗 BBG’s crape-myrtles are in bloom now. Crape-myrtles have long been favorite garden plants in the South, but many cultivars can grow in NYC, too. Find them at BBG near the Robert W. Wilson Overlook and along Lily Pool Terrace.

Bloom alert! 🪷 Water lilies are blooming beautifully in Lily Pool Terrace right now. These pools at BBG are planted with nearly 100 varieties of hardy and tropical water-lilies and sacred lotuses. These plants will bloom through July into early August.

Spend a serene midsummer evening at Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s soundbath. 💆 On July 20, Forever Green Soundbath will present a life-affirming meditation on the impermanence of nature featuring Attacca Quartet performing original improvisations and music from their album Evergreen with Caroline Shaw.

Celebrate Brooklyn’s community greeners at BBG! 💚 For 30 years, the Greenest Block in Brooklyn contest has demonstrated how small collective actions can build communities and transform neighborhoods, block by block. This summer, Block by Block applauds Brooklyn’s greening stars.

Four new multisensory art installations, open now at BBG! 👀 Created by Brooklyn-based artist Olalekan Jeyifous and the environmental art and architecture practice AD—WO, Ancestral Ecologies explores ancient Latinx and African diasporic beliefs around the intelligence of the natural world.

Bloom alert! 💐 The Cranford Rose Garden is hitting peak bloom. The Cranford Rose Garden is one of the broadest collections of rose species and cultivars in North America, hosting well over 5,000 individual plants. These roses will bloom through June, with some blossoming throughout summer.

Roses have juuust started blooming at BBG! 🌹 Early-blooming roses in the Cranford Rose Garden and Rose Arc are opening up, and look wonderful even in the rain. Keep an eye on our socials and newsletter for more updates.

Irises are blooming right now throughout the Garden! 💜 These plants can be found all around BBG, but look for a stunning variety of 197 irises on Fawcett Terrace, located on the west side of the Osborne Garden.

Bloom alert! 💙 Bluebell Wood is blooming right now. Stop by BBG soon to see thousands of Spanish bluebells nestled under the dappled shade of beech, elm, and birch trees. These blooms should last another couple weeks.

Bloom alert! ❤️ Azaleas are in full bloom across the Garden. Stop by soon to see these flowers in the Osborne Garden, Rock Garden, Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden, and Shelby White and Leon Levy Water Garden.

Bloom alert! 💗 Tree peonies are popping at BBG right now. Located at the north end of Cherry Walk, the Tree Peony Collection at Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a rare planting of more than 300 specimens, highlighting six different colors. These blooms are marvels of color, scent, and size.

CherryWatch 2026 update! 🌸🚨 Pink petals are falling on Cherry Esplanade and Cherry Walk, and the Kanzan cherries are almost done flowering. See the last days of this year’s bloom this week.

Bloom alert! 💜 BBG’s Lilac Collection is blooming (and smelling) beautifully right now. Come experience their intoxicating fragrance in person! Gardener Julia Czaplewski estimates blooms should last another week or so.

Bloom alert! 🌷 Tulips are blooming all around BBG. You can find these blooms most prominently in the Annual Border, the Fragrance Garden, and the Osborne Garden. These blooms will last another week or two.

Bloom alert! 💛 BBG’s yellow magnolias are blooming. BBG is famous in horticultural circles for introducing the yellow-flowering magnolia to the world. These hybrids are often the last bloomers among the Garden’s magnolias. Most of BBG’s other magnolias are finished flowering for the year.

Cherry Esplanade and Cherry Walk continue to bloom beautifully right now! 🌸 We expect these blooms to last through the week, but remember, nature runs the show.

Bloom alert! 🚨🌸 Cherry Esplanade and Cherry Walk have just hit peak bloom. The Kanzans opened up rapidly over the past few days. These blooms should last another week or so, depending on the weather.

CherryWatch 2026 update! 🌸🚨 The first Kanzan cherries are opening on Cherry Esplanade and Cherry Walk! Remember, this is just “first bloom” for these flowering trees.

Stop by the south side of BBG to see blooms galore! 👀 Pictured in order: A flowering cherry in the Plant Family Collection, pear trees in the Herb Garden, a Halehaven peach tree in the Herb Garden, Magnolia 'Lois' in the Discovery Garden, and Chinese redbud in the Discovery Garden.

Last call for cherry blossoms in the Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden! ⛩️🌸 The weeping higan cherries and other flowering cherry varieties in BBG’s Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden are looking spectacular right now, but are likely to only last a few more days.

You have to l👀k closely (and make haste!) to see these blooms. 🔎 In early spring, before trees leaf out, native woodland wildflowers take advantage of the sunlight to bloom. These “spring ephemerals” complete their bloom cycle in just a few weeks, or even less.

Bloom alert! ⛩️ The weeping higan cherries in the Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden are at peak bloom. Stop by soon to see them looking spectacular, as well as magnolias, daffodils, and more early spring flowers across BBG.

CherryWatch 2026 update! 🌸⛩️🚨 The weeping cherries in the Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden, as well as cherry trees at the north end of the Cherry Cultivars Area, are blooming. These blooms have emerged rapidly over the past two days.

Bloom alert! 💛 Daffodil Hill is blooming! Adjacent to Magnolia Plaza, BBG’s Daffodil Hill is currently filled with thousands of yellow blooms. These flowers should stick around for a few more weeks.
