I think this is coming from the Trump playbook where he sent out Covid cheques with his name on them. The idea was to raise his profile and credit for it. Smith won't get nearly as much credit for a few cents off the gas price.
I don't oppose windfall profit tax. I see O&G profits as short lived as demand destruction is well underway. I did a thought exercise on world EV fleet and there is no doubt that O&G industry is in for a world of hurt very soon. Windfall profit tax should be set aside for cleaning up the mess?
Technically, it does use algorithms but users have control over them, unlike other platforms that force feed your feed. You are right, it takes a bit of effort to shape your Bluesky feed to get the content you want.
