Literally less than a week before we were scheduled to depart they told us we were doubling our deployment length. I had one crew member whose wife was 8 months pregnant and no one that could replace him. Another had planned to get married a couple of weeks post deployment. 2/n
Went to the river this morning trying out a different camera body, it’s always nice with a cooperative subject. #birds
I heard a bird singing this morning I thought may have been a warbler, Couldn’t recognize its song. Pulled up Merlin l, and now have a quest.
Birds are so diverse and interesting. And they can fly! Saturday on the Sacramento NWR
It’s been a while since I went wandering around with the bird apparatus, this morning I took it down to the river looking for Orioles. The Bullocks are thick and love hanging out way up in the cottonwoods and mature oaks. I got lucky and found their nest! 😀
@lunarose.bsky.social snapped this pic of me and Oliver, her bodyguard. He’s tiny, but mighty!
Another swipe at this account, on Christmas I took my mother to see my sis in SF so had to do this. 😀
The highway is open through Lassen Volcanic NP and I should be able to visit my Pika friends soon. 🤞🤞🤞
Spotties! On Manzanita Lake this weekend. I was telling the fly fishers to bring damsel nymphs. @lunarose.bsky.social #birdbutt #birds #wadingbirds #bigasscameralens #allthehashtags
A Steller's Jay planning the ouster of the Lassen NP superintendent. #birds
If you see this, post the most recent photo of yourself from your camera roll. No cheating!
DVNP Photo Dump. I can’t believe what is happening rn. Hope these snaps can inspire someone to get outside and care about our home. And I love California. Zabriskie Point #landscapephotography #nationalparks #deathvalley #travel #vacation #fun
I should video the drive into Death Valley from the west, it is so dramatic. In the meantime, here are some shots of the Artist's Palette. The drive is a loop that takes you up into a canyon and you have a fantastic view on the way down looking into the Middle Basin and Devil's Golf Course.
