I've received two emergency warnings from the United Kingdom Government about the risk of wildfires, one in Welsh, and one in English. I've received only five emergency alerts ever. Two of them were tests, there were the two today, and one was before Storm Darragh in December 2024.
Yr wyf wedi derbyn dau rybudd argyfwng gan Lywodraeth y Deyrnas Unedig am beryg tannau gwyllt, un yn Gymraeg ac y llall yn Saesneg. Yr wyf wedi derbyn dim ond pum rhybudd erioed. Profion oedd dau ohonynt, y ddau heddiw, ac un cyn Storm Darragh yn Rhagfyr 2024.
All right, which airline was responsible for ruining my picture? #Eclipse #SolarEclipse #PartialSolarEclipse
The BBC News has just claimed that today's eclipse was the most significant for the UK this century. The reality is that an annular solar eclipse was visible from the North of Scotland in May 2003. And the BBC's science correspondent has just claimed that solar prominences are nuclear explosions.
And the partial solar eclipse is ending. The image was taken from Holyhead, Wales, by holding my mobile 'phone to the eyepiece of a telescope (with a solar filter in front). There should be better images when I download them later. #Eclipse #SolarEclipse #TotalSolarEclipse #PartialSolarEclipse
The partial solar eclipse now. Thin cloud has started to cover the Sun. The image was taken from Holyhead, Wales, by holding my mobile 'phone to the eyepiece of a telescope (with a solar filter in front). #Eclipse #SolarEclipse #TotalSolarEclipse #PartialSolarEclipse
The partial solar eclipse now. The Moon is retreating from the solar disc. The image was tajen from Holyhead, Wales, by holding my mobile 'phone to the eyepiece of a telescope (with a solar filter in front). #Eclipse #SolarEclipse #TotalSolarEclipse #PartialSolarEclipse
This the state of affairs now. #Eclipse #SolarEclipse #TotalSolarEclipse #PartialSolarEclipse
This is the latest picture of the partial solar eclipse imaged from Holyhead, Wales, by holding my mobile 'phone to the eyepiece of a telescope with a solar filter in front of it. #Eclipse #SolarEclipse #TotalSolarEclipse #PartialSolarEclipse
The partial solar eclipse close to its maximum imaged from Holyhead, Wales, by holding my mobile 'phone to the eyepiece of a telescope (with a solar filter in front of it). There is a really strange quality to the light around here. #Eclipse #SolarEclipse #TotalSolarEclipse #PartialSolarEclipse
Here is the latest image of the partial solar eclipse from Holyhead, Wales, obtained by holding my mobile 'phone to the eyepiece of a telescope with a solar filter in front of it. #Eclipse #SolarEclipse #TotalSolarEclipse #PartialSolarEclipse
And here is another picture of the partial solar eclipse imaged from Holyhead, Wales, by holding my mobile 'phone to the eyepiece of a telescope (with a proper solar filter in front of it). #Eclipse #SolarEclipse #TotalSolarEclipse #PartialSolarEclipse

The sky is partly clear for me this morning, with areas of blue sky and patches of thin high cloud, here at the northwestern tip of Wales. Things look quite good for this evening's solar eclipse, which will be a large-magnitude partial eclipse here. #Eclipse #SolarEclipse #PartialSolarEclipse
I found a food item in a kitchen cupboard with a "best before date" of August 2010.
I bought a hibiscus plant in a local supermarket last year. It has produced two flowers this year, and I'm pleased with the result.
Mae hi'n bwrw glaw am y tro gyntaf mewn wythnosau. It's raining for the first time in a few weeks.
Fifty years ago, the lander of NASA's Viking 1 spacecraft touched down safely on the surface of Mars. It returned many images of the surface, dug into the soil, and carried out chemical analyses of the Martian soil, among many other scientific tasks. [Images: Wikimedia Commons]
Nigel Farage's nemesis is being interviewed on Newsnight on BBC Two television at the moment.
The occasional member of parliament for Clacton posted this on the Muskotron in the past hour. I went on to the Muskotron and unblocked Nigel Farage's account for this, just so that you don't have to.
Now, 08h 24m UTC (9:24 a.m. BST, 10:24 a.m. CEST), is the solstice, the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere of the Earth, the winter in the Southern. #Solstice #SummerSolstice #WinterSolstice
The victorious candidate in the Makerfield byelection, Andy Burnham (centre), with unsuccessful candidates Count Binface (left) and, I think, Ed Gemmell of the Climate Party (right).

Today is the 30th anniversary of the first launch of the European Space Agency's Ariane 5 rocket, which ended when the rocket veered off course and exploded above the launch site at Kourou, French Guiana. Four Cluster spacecraft on board, designed to study the Earth's magnetosphere, were destroyed.
The first part of a long post on the Muskophone from Andy Burnham, currently mayor of Greater Manchester, announcing that he will request Labour's NEC to set aside the prohibition on executive mayors running for parliament to allow him to stand in a Makerfield byelection.
