I'm with Patrick Wyman on this one tbh. If Alexander dies at the Granicus, history is completely different (and not just for Black Cleitus). For one thing, we wouldn't get the weirdness of Greco-Bactrian/Greco-Buddhist art. Yes, that's Buddha sitting next to Heracles holding the club.

The depiction of the Buddha is also interesting since it includes a lot of the Greek artistic style in the fine definition of his robes and facial features, something that differs from the smoother, more stylised forms we see in e.g. depictions of the Buddha in SE Asia.

It's unsurprising when you had men like Nathaniel Lyon running around. To be clear, Lyon was definitely fighting on the correct side of the Civil War, but "I would rather commit mass murder than see you win" is a truly psychopathic thing to say.

A quote from Nathaniel Lyon where he said that, “Rather than concede to the State of Missouri for one single instant the right to dictate to my Government in any matter however unimportant, I would see you, and you, and you, and every man, woman, and child in the State, dead and buried. This means war.”

He said this to the Confederate governor of Missouri, Claiborne Fox Jackson during the Planters' House Conference in St Louis in June 1861, 3 months into the war.

In all honesty, Lincoln's second inaugural is one of the best pieces of writing in US political history.

The end of Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address:
